Now, my expertise is NOT on the Twin Cam bikes but I do try to help when I can. In your case, if your engine were an earleir Evolution or Shovelhead engine, I'd say that you had sheared a scavenge gear drive key in the oil pump. Now, I do not know a thing about the oil pump in a Twin Cam as I've never worked on one. It sounds like your oil pump is not scavenging (sucking) the oil out of the engine and pumping it back to the oil tank. Once the pump pumps the oil into the engine, it stays there. Thats why you're seen the "massive amounts of oil spitting out of the little hoses behind the air cleaner". Take your bike to a dealer or qualified shop as soon as possible and I'd refrain from running it. An engine full of oil would also expain why the engine does not want to run as well.

i have heard that you only drain the oil from the oil resevoir. there is a 14mm bolt at the bottom of the resevoir. remove this and the oil should drain. you may also turn the engine over a few turns to evacuate the remaining oil in the cranckcase. change the filter, fill the oil rsevoir to the specified amount and you should be good to go.

anytime you deal with small engine parts you MUST be armed with the engine model number, code and type. on late briggs these are on one of the valve covers.

model # 12f702-1824e1 mower( that uses weedeater string) had a spring come off the carberator and I don't know where to put it back on.

it sounds like the needle valve is stuck open. This is connected to the float, and when the bowl gets low the float pulls this needle out of its seat and allows fuel to run in. Sometimes tapping on the bowl can resolve this. The needle is usually made of brass and can become corroded from water or from sitting or wintering over. if you take the bowl off you could also clean this up if tapping a little does not resolve the issue.

The outstanding Briggs opposed twin engines have an oil capacity of 1.5 qts. The recommended oil is 10w30 full synthetic and 50 hour change intervals. Some engines were equipped with an oil filter, if so, the capacity is 1.7 qts. fantastic engines, take care of it.
