The plastic locking mechanism to keep it upright is broken. It can be fixed, but not sure it is worth fixing. I know its a pain to lean it up against the wall all the time, but the cost for replacing the part is not worth the expense in my opinion. Good luck!

Machine wont stay standing bag and handle falls down

the detent is broken. Usually only costs about $8 for the part and maybe 15 to put it in, but it depends on the make/model. Or you can just lean it against the wall...

Change the belt

You need a phillips screwdriver with a good point because the screws are small. Dirt is goning to fall out,so be ready.---O.K.-- I usually sit on a folding chair outside with the vac upside-down on my lap & the handle between my legs. The screws you must remove are located in recessed holes around the brushes & back towards the wheels. These hold on the base plate.Take this off & the drive shaft should be visible. The beater bar (brushes) should slide straight out towards you. (You may want to look for clogs & generally clean this area now.) Loop the new belt over the end of the beater bar nearest the drive shaft & line it up with the gap in the brissles, then slide the beater bar back in place. Now's the hard part--Hold the beater bar in & pull the belt straight back over the drive shaft--Make sure it's on all the way & lined up straight with no kinks or twists. Replace the baseplate (Don't over tighten the screws or they will strip out & not hold) &you're done.

DC07 grinding noise

I had the same problem with mine, I took it to a repair shop. The problem is where the belt passes through from the brush and goes inside the machine. Move the belt over a bit and you will see that a plastic guide has been bent over and is pressing onto the brush, which causes the noise. Just bend it straight again and it stops.

My dc14 wont stand vertically, it stands slightly leaning backwards?

There is usually a stopper that you step down on to bring it down, its stopper should be loose, or needs to be replaced.

Kirby G6 won't stay up straight.

Either the bag is too full or the catch for the stand hold has gotten some dust and or foreign materials in it. You can probably grab a small flashlight and inspect the area that catches the latch.Or it could be broken and needs replacement.

Dyson DC7 full Kit, with one belt does not get suction to head.

Not absolutely sure about this, so your feedback will be very welcome.
What follows applies to the DC14, which I think is similar in this respect:
Stand behind the machine, holding the handle at a 45 degree angle. Locate and remove the airway inspection valve (bottom of handle, right side). Where the valve plugs in there is a square plastic moulding that should slide up and down. Snap that square plastic piece up towards the ceiling. After it snaps into place, the machine should stand upright.
Good luck, and please let me know how you get on!

Can't get upper tank to snap back in place after removal.

I've found on some of them that you have to stand behind the machine. Put the bottom of the tank in first, then the top, and when you have the tank in place, pull up on the tank handle so that it locks into the machine. It all has to do with that tank handle not locking into the machine. If you play with it a bit I think you'll figure it out.

Good Luck Ruth

if your unit normally turns on when you open the flap on the wall inlets then you should check each inlet for a switch or a button, sometimes those buttons can get loose and fall into the wall making the unit stay on.

Broken Dyson

A quick temporary fix - parcel tape, or one of those stretchy cord (bungy?) with the hooks on the end. Anything more effective would probably require other parts to be replaced.
