Blurry, purple bar across middle of plasma tv screen

Plasma screens are extremely susceptible to getting broken from any impacts to the face of the screen. What you are describing sound very much like distorted or dead pixels. It may not be a fixable issue, you may have to replace the entire unit or live with the purple bar. The reason you don't notice it as much when the screen is dark is because purple is on the darker end of the spectrum, and will be most visible in contrast to lighter ad brighter colors.

Is the color filter going out?sometimes i have a red screen

The most common cause of a red or pnik tint to the picture is a weak or failing backlight tube. LCD monitors use very small florescent tubes to provide the backlight and when they start to go out the output red or pink tinted light not white. You can replace the bulbes but in most cases it is not worth the trouble. You should chack the date on the back of the monitor, if it is less than 3 years old then contact Samsung for a warranty repair, if older than 3 years then get a new monitor.

Blurry

CRT monitors after time eventually start to blur. This is just a sign of age, and you should probably think about getting an LCD monitor some time soon.

This is either loose cable connection or faulty LCD. Try and take your screen apart. It's pretty easy normally get rid of all the screws and take plastics apart. Look for loose cable connection and resit any visible connectors. If this isn't working you more likely need new monitor. Good Luck

What disavantage about LCD?

The most notable disadvantage to LCD screens is their fixed or native resolution. An LCD screen can only display the number of pixels in its matrix and no more or less. It can display a lower resolution in one of two ways. Using only a fraction of the total pixels on the display or through extrapolation. Extrapolation is a method whereby the monitor blends multiple pixels together to simulate a single smaller pixel. This can often lead to a blurry or fuzzy image particularly with text when running the screen below is native resolution.
Video was problematic with early LCD monitors because of lower response times. This has been overcome by many improvements, but there are some that still have low response times. Purchasers should be aware of this when purchasing a monitor. However, the improvements are often work arounds that can actually lead to another problem of reduced color clarity. Unfortunately, the industry is very poor about properly listing the specifications for monitors to help buyers understand and compare monitors.

  • Blurry images Outside Native Resolution
  • Motion Blur on Fast Moving images
  • Some Models Have Reduced Color Clarity
Conclusions At this point and time, most consumers will likely be purchasing LCD monitors over CRTs. There is almost no difference in the cost to consumers thanks to production improvements in LCDs and the reduction in the production of CRTs. Typically CRTs will only be seen sold with the least expensive of desktop computer systems or by those with special imaging needs such as graphics and medical professionals.

Waves

Hi hoovs, Waves streaming normally comes from the 60 cycles hum of the AC mains. Sometimes this is caused by poor or loose grounding in the video cable or at times a weak or defective capacitor in the power supply of the monitor or at times low voltage supply to the monitor. If after checking your cables (both power and video) are not loose and are snugly fitted to their connection points and you still get the waves, then you are probably better off returning the unit for replacement. Another thing you can check is if the monitor is getting enough power. If the monitor's power supply is rated 100~240 VAC, then it should work out ok. If it's got a 240 rating and you are using it in 110, then the monitor is not getting enough juice which may cause the waves. On rare occasion, waves may be eliminated by simply plugging in the AC plug of your monitor the other way around. Hope this be of some help to you. Pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.
