Canon pixma 3000 not printing magenta at all

Hi! i'm quite desperate about my problem, anyone who can help me should be declared genius. here's the thing: i installed my new color cartriges, after not using the printer for a year, and everything was perfect-o-rama, except for the magenta. it would not print it whatever i did. i executed a cleaning routine, then a deep cleaning routine, then test prints, everything, and still, no magenta ever came out. i tried printing an all-magenta picture, nothing, just white paper. help? pretty please help? :-s

Same problem ... with a minor wrinkle. The test print shows magenta OK but when I print an image with plenty of red, it is obvious that magenta is not being applied...

actually, i figured it out. turns out, the cartridges have a little thingamabob on their backs, kindof a breather. now when you tear off that plastic sticker in the first place, that releases a little airhole, that you can trace back to the inktank. probably, the path was jammed, so all i needed to do was take off most of the labeling on the cartridge, so that the tank could breathe. that's probably why it wouldn't work.

Canon pixma ip4300 - magenta ink is recognized but not printing

Take the print head out of the machine and sit it in a saucer of very hot ( just off boil) water about 10mm deep for a minute. Take it out and sit in on a pad of paper towel to dry briefly before returning it and the cartridges into the machine. Give it a deep clean and try again. If still no good, the print head has probably had it.

More detail is helpful -
Have each of you tried the printhead cleaning routines Canon supplies?
If not, try them although if you print only infrequently, this probably won't help much.

You can find a detailed procedure for removing the printhead for cleaning that the machine itself couldn't manage with this link:

IP4000 won't print anything except magenta

Hi make sure that the cartridges are fully installed and that you have taken the packaging completely off. Failing that there are two possibilities.
1 Print cartridges faulty or refills
2 Faulty Print cartridge head.

Thanks hope this is of some help
