I received "The Sims Mega Deluxe" set for Christmas a few years ago. I once had them installed on my computer and they worked great. But after a year or so, I decided to uninstall them and remove them from my computer for more memory space so I could play "The Sims 2". Then, "The Sims 2" was way too slow on my computer so I uninstalled it. Now I miss playing the original Sims and am trying to install it again. Now, I have a Windows XP. When I try to download, it either stops downloading at 100% after installing the first CD and the install meter looks solid? Or it will lock up at 24% of downloading. Or, once I have it downloaded and want to play it, I will hit "play the sims" on the autorun menu. It will open the screen, start the sims loading menu, and once it gets to "analyzing moods and emotions" or whatever on the scollthrough, it will pause, go black, and then the game will stop and it will return me back to my desktop. Whats up with this? I used to play it fine before on this very same computer and now it is giving me all these issues. Keep in mind, the CDs are all clean with no scratches, so I dont know what to do.
A crash at this exact point during the loading screen is typically caused by file corruption. This can be caused by downloads, an improper save, etc. There is a chance, however, that the crash can be attributed to a conflict with processes running in the background or the version of video or sound card drivers that are installed.
End background tasks . This will help to prevent conflicts with other programs running in the background as well as free up resources for the game, making it easier for your computer to run.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, this means it is, in fact, a corrupt file issue. In this case you would need to uninstall the game completely and reinstall the game. This should resolve the crashing issue.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hi. Is Sims 2 installed in your pc? Before you can install any expansion pack you have to install first the sims 2. Try installing first your sims 2 software then install all the expansion pack that you have. Hope this helps.
I think university is the first or second expansion pack. I know there are issues if the expansions are not installed in order of their release. if you have say, seasons or freetime and then install university, it may not run correctly. You have to uninstall the packs or the game and re-install them in correct order. Yes, it's a big pain but I had to do it twice.
Install the SIMS2, or double deluxe whatever you have then follow this order with exception of say nightlife if you have have double deluxe because it comes with the original game.
The Sims 2" Expansion Pack Order
"The Sims 2 University"
"The Sims 2 Nightlife" included in double deluxe
"The Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Open for Business"
"The Sims 2 Family Fun" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Glamour Life" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Pets"
"The Sims 2 Happy Holiday" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Seasons"
"The Sims 2 Celebration" (A Stuff Pack) also in double deluxe
"The Sims 2 H&M" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Bon Voyage"
"The Sims 2 Teen Style" (A Stuff Pack)
"The Sims 2 Free Time"
"The Sims 2 Kitchen and Bath Interior Design" (A Stuff Pack)
The Sims has to be installed in the order of which they were released for best results. My family tried to install them in different orders on different computers so we could all play all the expansions using different disks without all haveing to buy the expansions. However, EA had foreseen this and the Sims can only be installed in order as follows.
"The Sims" or "The Sims Deluxe" or "The Sims Mega Deluxe"
As long as you have your download file located in Documents/Ea Games/The Sims 2/Downloads (I already had this folder when I installed the game.) you should be fine.
Your might want to try taking out your Sim Blender, and try executing again. It may be causing the game to freeze before it loads all the way. I am currently having the same problems and I am looking for a solution.
Please update your question. In the time of when it was last on your computer and now that you've reinstalled it have you added a video card and/or updated the drivers. First off have your tried reinstalling it again? One thing you can do is try to find an update for your display adapter. Wether it be a video card or intergrated graphics. If you are able to, collect your computer video settings by going to your run program and type in dxdiag and hit run. Once the program opens up on the bottom save the information and if you possibly can, attach it to a e-mail and send it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will look it over and see if it could be a directx problem or a video driver problem.
Your registery file is deleted you will have to reinstall the game.Copy your saved games to a folder.First uninstall and then then install the game again. And copy the saved games to the directory from where you copied the saved games.
