Question about Locks & Locksmithing

1 Answer

I have two PFK electronic touchpad locks. Installed both about 1 year ago. They worked perfectly until 1 month ago and both started beeping and then emitting a long shrill beep. Then it would just start beeping short beeps until the long shrill beep once again occurs. I have replaced batteries with new alkaline batteries. I have attempted to reset the passcodes for position one and two. I have gotten them to work for one or two openings then the beeping starts over. Is there a way to clear the memory entirely and start fresh. It appears that the lock thinks an errant passcode has been entered more than once and this is its way of telling me that.

Hi

Try and reset the lock by Logging in (as admin), then press the down key 5 times using the arrows. Now input the letters “aaaa”, then hit the check button to reset. Also check that timed modes(if supported by the model) are not currently turned on.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Troubleshooting Tips
If Electronics Are Not Working - Check the Following:
Are your batteries good? Is the power strip plugged in properly? (See step 4.6)
Are the batteries installed correctly and making full contact? (See step 4.8) You should hear a series of quick beeps when batteries are installed correctly and making full contact.
Handing of Your Door
If the bolt does not extend when lock button is pressed, check the handing of your door (See Step 4.9)
Preset Factory Codes
This lock will maintain two different codes.
Two random codes are preset by the factory for testing. It is recommended that you enter
two new security codes to cancel out the preset codes. (See step 5).
Problems with Setting your Security Codes - Check the Following:
You will hear a 2 second beep when your codes are accepted. (See step 5.1-3).
If the unit does not beep - too much time has elapsed between steps 1 & 2. Repeat these steps faster.
Note: You have approximately 3 seconds between step 1 & 2 for your codes to be accepted. Please note the next statement.
Unauthorized Code Warning:
For your added security, a warning tone will sound for 15 seconds if an incorrect security code is entered three times consecutively. The Touchpad will not operate for 1 minute.
Note: If several attempts were needed to set your security codes - you may have activated the warning sound. Wait 1 minute for the unit to be operational again.

After all this, it will probably come down to replacing the keypad assembly. If your lock is less thatn one year old, it will be covered by warranty.
I suggest calling the appropriate toll-free number and having a conversation with a representative about this problem. You will want confirm that you need the part before you go through the expense, and that it's worth it. You will need to know the "finish" of your lock. Try to talk them into warrantying the part, in spite of the age (one year warranty on electronics), as a matter of good customer relations. They will help you get the correct part on order.
I will strongly urge you to consider the cost of the replacement part versus the expense of a new lock. Look into a Schlage if you do. I've seen more problems with the Powerbolt than any other electronic lock.

Began to beep in intervals. Changed batteries and it worked a couple of times then beeped twice then touchpad will not work, Five minutes later it beeped steadily for 10 seconds than stopped. Will not...

Why is my Powerbolt 1000 unit beeping?

This is the relevant excerpt from the Powerbolt programming and troubleshooting instructions:

"To determine why your lock is beeping abnormally, please follow these steps:

Take out batteries and unplug powerstrip.
Let it sit for 1 minute, then put the batteries back in and wait another minute.
If it does not beep, the keypad needs to be replaced (17733-1).
If the unit continues to beep, the powerboard needs to be replaced (A17734-3,3 Powerboard 1470 brass finish; A17734-3,26D Powerboard 1470 satin chrome finish; A17734-3,5 Powerboard 1470 antique brass finish)."

Since you've already gone through the battery change, try the battery remove-reinstall recommended above. If that doesn't work for you it suggests that you need to replace the appropriate Powerboard for your lock.

So this is the link to Weiser Customer Support Page, where you will find the appropriate number of your location:

The lock is removed after you undo the bolts on the inside The whole cenre should slip out. I doubt you can use another brand in the rim that will mate up with the equipment inside the house side of the door But you can completely replace it in the alreaqdy made hole

Dear Sirs: I have a Weiser keyless locke

  • Take out batteries and unplug powerstrip.
  • Let it sit for 1 minute, then put the batteries back in and wait another minute.
I contacted customer support... they tell me the FAQ information on their own website is incorrect. The opposite is true, therefore the following is correct:
  • If it does not beep, the powerboard needs to be replaced
  • If the unit continues to beep, the keypad needs to be replaced
Here in Canada, they will send you a new one within 3-5 days free of charge. Call customer support:

Touchpad doesn't work, F1 code

Most likley you have a bad touchpad. Most times its a key that is stuck and there is nothing much you can do except replace the touchpad control. It is a common problem with all electronic ranges. If the range is 13 years old I would thik about replaceing it. Good luck
