Question about Brother HL 1440 Laser Printer

Need driver compatible with Brother 1440

The Brother 1440 driver is causing conflicts with my other software, so I need to use a different driver with it. Tried HP Laserjet 4 and IIIP and neither worked (doesn't print correctly from Word). Any other suggestions?

I need to update driver to windows 8

Brother has most of their drivers on their web site. However, the HL-1440 drivers are built into Win8. Plug your USB cable into your computer and the driver will load. You may need to use Windows Update and check the optional updates to find the driver. (If you use a parallel port (assuming one is on your computer, you will need to use the Add a Device wizard.)

I hope this helps. Most of the documents and drivers for the HL-1440 are here: .

b. Click Properties.
c. Click Compatibility tab.
d. Under compatibility mode, check mark "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" from the drop down list.
e. Click Apply and then click ok.
2. a. Under "Privilege level", click "Run this program as an administrator".
b. Click apply and then click ok.
3. Install the driver successfully and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

Why would you need WinZIP? Zip handling is built into Windows XP. The driver from Brother is a Self-extracting archive, meaning you don't need third-party software to open it, just double-click it and select a destination for the file extraction. Then, when you open this particular extracted folder, you'll see many different folders named Disk1, Disk2, and so on. Open the folder Disk1, double-click the SETUP icon, and there you go - the driver installation starts.

The driver file you need is right here:

Just COPY & PASTE that address into your browser's address bar and Voila! click DOWNLOAD.
