Did you ever get this problem fixed?

This problem is caused by a bad dry transistor in the power supply! I sold my unit and the buyer fixed the problem like this.

My Aiwa AV-D58 receiver won't turn on, only sits on 'Eco Mode.' After letting it sit for about a month, i plugged it into a power outlet and it worked, so I unplugged it and carried it into the room...

Have someone check your house wiring to see if the live and neutral are reversed.

Beyond that - you may have some leaky capacitors. If you're tech savvy, open up the unit and see if any of the electrolytic capacitors are bulging at the top or leaking at the bottom, and if so, unsolder and replace them. This is actually the most likely issue.

My Aiwa NSX 990 wont come on. Only timer icon come in display and volumew LED keeps coming on and going off at regular intervals

Unplug the power cable completely to turn off and then turn back on again. Check whether there are no lose parts with missing contact.
Most probably it looks like a deeply digital problem with no do it yourself solutions - bring it to the repairman, but I even doubt he would fix it.
You can also download the Aiwa NSX-990 service manual and analyze more specifically your case. Download it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jc0ynzoiama or from here: http://www.4shared.com/document/rQ67hcpG/Aiwa_XG-990-NSX-990-NSX-992.html (click "Download Now", not any other button).

Would need more information. What kind/brand and model, does it have a detachable face, does it go out and stay out, does it go out when you hit a bump, or when its hot/cold.

Check the internal memory battery if there is one, then reset the sleep setting? Check the manual regarding memory back up.
