Question about Canon PIXMA MP460 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I can't figure out how to make my printer print in color again, I don't know where the settings are for that. A long time ago I switched it to only print in black and white because I ran out of color ink. Now I can't remember how I did it so that I can change it back to printing in color again. I am using my laptop to hook it up to because our main computer is out of service at this time. The main computer is the one in which I used to change the settings, I hope I can do it with the laptop. Please help! I need to print out important documents. My printer is a Canon PIXMA MP460. Thanks so much!
If you go here you can download or view a manual for your printer, with detailed instructions on changing the print cartridge settings in windows or mac.
If you go here, you'll be taken to the home support page for your printer, where you can enter a search for "print in color", and detailed instructions will follow.
You go to control panel>printers>print preferences> and uncheck the grayscale printing and set the color to auto.
Issue: Image prints black and white instead of color....See below.
Solution: Uncheck Grayscale Printing checkbox (Windows)
Unchecking Grayscale Printing Follow the steps below to change the Grayscale Printing option:
For Windows Vista: Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

You can download the driver and user manual at
To reset the print color, go to the Print Preferences, make sure Grayscale is not checked. Check Print Advisor, click Default. You should be back to printing color. Nozzle cleaning and alignment will be in order.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

i was told that the printer needs to be directly connected to the imac (not airport) for the scanner to work.
i have the same issue w/ the airport extreme.

Go right to the Canon site, and download from there.
If you're in the US, it's http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=184&modelid=10239#DownloadDetailAct
In Europe it's http://software.canon-europe.com/
Download it (remember where you put it) once that's done, go into the folder and run the downloaded file (that will extract everything)
Ti install it, go to "Add Printer" whe it asks what kind, point it at the folder you extracted it to, and install.
