Wap versus wep encryption

I am trying to get my wireless card to connect to a buddies wireless system. He has given me his WAP encryption code to sign on but when I bring up my cards' configuration page I cannot choose the pulldown to change to WAP. Mine is set to WEP. How do I change this so I can put in his 16 digit code so I can access his wireless system. (I have tried to input his 16 digit code into the WEP Key but it doesn't recognize most of the letters or numbers from my keypad.) My card is a 3com inprocomm ipn2120 wireless lan card. I know it's not one of your listed 3com products but I am hoping you can help me. You could send a response to I have tried to sign up using this email address on my buddies computers but am not sure it went through.

I want to connect to a do do it

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or "1234" blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
If you are not able to access router then RESET it .You can RESET it with reset button it is in back side of router press it for 10 seconds then all settings goes to defaults then you can access it with above link.
Click on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.

How do i find out my WPA (WEP) key? I bought a G wireless router several months ago but can't get my laptop to work with it.

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

If you cannot get into the Belkin's wireless configuration you can reset the router back to the default settings by pressing the RESET button at the back of the router for 7 secs. The setup IP address is and the default password is blank.

My hp pavilion dv 9000 can not connect to bt home hub 2.0

hi, please make sure that you enable WPA encryption on the wireless router. Vista will give you trouble if you use WEP encryption. Also, please update the firmware on the wireless router, if possible.

Let me know how it goes.

Can't find wireless networks

According to the specs for your computer, it has a wireless card.
If the wireless driver is installed you will see it in Device Manager and it should be working and enabled. If not you will need to install the driver for the wireless card.
If it is installed and working you need to configure the wireless card to the wireless router's settings, (eg. the SSID, and the WAP or WEP encryption settings etc. so it can communicate with the wireless router).
