It prints gibberish before the print job.

The print job is not formatting properly for your printer. Hi. I would suggest that you unplug the printer, reinstall software and check you computer for viruses. If i continues, try letting it print out. maybe someone set so that 30 pages with a smiley would be printed next time you plugged it in. I how this will fix you problem.

open its directory by click in the tray system ..(right where the programs are opened) ..just right click on the printer ..and choose to go in the printer folder..there it will be the issue you are talking ..the previous jobs and errors..just try to eliminate by click-right on them and delete ..
so ..make a habit to check this folder for remaining jobs that loops and may cause issues..if they remain there and are not deleted..

first scan your computer with anti virus. second. reinstall the printer driver. then test print.

gibberish printing is normally a sign of outdated print drivers. Try going to HP's support site and download the latest PCL driver.
