Have a look at the feed roller assy. on the left side, there is a flat spring, between the gear and the bronze lock down pin.
If you don't open the front panel to clear a jam, this spring unwinds, and pushes the gear out, and gets in between the gear and other little black bit. Lift the bornze tab up, remove feed roller assy, Very gingerly rewind spring (Technically unwind it) while pusing the gear back towards the bronze lockdown. It's finicky, but totally doable. A third hand would help :-)

When trying to scan, the scanner makes a loud clicking sound and the scanning carriage does not advance under the glass plate. It looks like the movement belt has come lose or detatched.

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.

If the scanner's 'clicking' sound is louder than usual, plus there's issues with the scanning carriage, it is quite evident that this device requires repair/parts replacement. Please note that I'm highly recommending a certified or trained technician to do such job due to the intricacy of internal parts (not to mention the architecture) of the scanner.

For your convenience, I have included the support site for Lexmark for you to check on the repair options and more information surrounding the product :

I hope this helps and Thank you for using FixYa.

All my scans have a fine white line running down

This happens due to the failure of one of the "Detectors" inside the "Scan Head" They have a strip of these sensors all next too each other laid across the width of the scanner platen. Unfortunately there is not a lot to be done.

Installing Printer/scanner kit to Ricoh Aficio 2015

the main part of the kit is a dimm card. the dimm has the fax/scan/print stored on it. the problem adding this to your machine is drivers, only twain scanning, no scan to folerd, no internet faxing, no winodws 7 drivers. if you get a whole kit you need to add the fax pcb and also get the nic for it to scan properly. good luck

I have a canon dr-3080c that will scan all but the last page have to put blank sheet of paper to complete scan job, have replaced roller kit for other problem and the kit repaired that problem but still...

I think this is rubber roller problem. Obviously, the scanner cannot find out which is the last page. If the paper available is less, the roller is not pulling the last few sheets.

CanoScan LiDE 20 started stretching image at the beginning of the scan, continuing just fine afterwards. Bottom part of the image (in my case a letter-size page) will not fit, about 1/4 of an inch would be...

Hi pallada,

This might be a case where we address the symptoms rather than the problem.

Instead of positioning the paper to be copied at the normal position, drop it down to the 2" mark. Then on the preview screen, adjust the area to be scanned down accordingly.

This should allow a full letter size scan with no loss, truncation or stretch.

Best regards,
Mike

System error L3-00

L3-XX codes have to do with the scanner system. Most likely the scanner lock underneath the scanner (where the paper exits) got locked. It should be a round plastic knob. If that it not it you need to check the travel of the mirror system and lubricate the scanner rails. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH OPTICAL SCANNER SYSTEMS DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IT. IF THE CABLES SLIP OFF YOU ARE DONE. I've been a copier tech for five years and it took me four hours to restring the optics cable on a Kyocera and eliminate the skew.

Lexmark x7550 Printer, Scanner, Fax - Clicking Noise Question

top feeder for the scanner (on my x6570) had a loose piece of rubber stuck between the feed wheels. The rubber is part of the guiding mechanism that guides the paper to the feed wheels. Remove rubber strip and reattach it where it belongs.
