The protection circuit doesnt turn on when powering on and there is no sound from it. At times it wuold make an internal clicking sound and the sound wound come off and on at random but now it is silent. I checked my cabling and it seems to be ok. The lights indicating the protection circuit only shines when powering off.

Pardon me for not being clear. The question is about a power amp, model Samson servo 300. Each time it powers on, there is a led ladder lighting all the way on, then descending, to protect the speakers as it is told in the related brochure coming with it. Now, when I press the power button, no light on the led ladder, only when powering off. Last week, the sound would go on and off and a clicking sound could be heard from the amp. Now there is no clicking sound anymore and no sound at all. I checked my cables, my console, everything is fine there. The led ladder usually displays how much power the amp is putting out, now it displays nothing, only, as I wrote before, when it is powering off. I hope this helps and sorry for my english.

Is this question about a radio or amplifier?
a model # would be very helpful as well.

OK - and it is a HOME/STUDIO amplifier, and not a car audio one :D

    Now we are getting somewhere.

The LED Display lights up on POWER ON as a self diagnosis.
Then is a visual reference to the output of the speaker levels.
If the LED Display does not light up on POWER ON - there is an internal fault.
More specifically the turn on relay (which you heard clicking - and was on the verge of failure).

Remove all the speaker wires and then power on the unit.
Listen for the audible click after powering on.
If it powers on - and the Protection light goes off - you likely have a blown speaker voicecoil.

    Page 7 of the manual...

As noted in the “Guided Tour” section of this manual, the Servo Series front-panel
Protection LED indicates the activity of the relay speaker connection circuitry. When
the Protection LED is lit, this circuitry is active, and all connected speakers are muted
(provided with no signal), thus protecting them and preventing any audible “thump”
    from occurring.
The following conditions will cause the Protection LED to go on:
    • Initial power-up: For approximately five seconds after initial power-up, the protection
circuitry is activated and the speaker outputs are muted. If everything is operating
normally, you will hear an audible click at the conclusion of this brief period, as
the protection circuitry is deactivated and the Servo Series begins delivering signal to
connected speakers (at which point you’ll hear a click). It is normal for the Protection
LED to fade gradually after the amplifier is powered off.
    • Overheating: A temperature sensing device in the Servo Series will cause the protection
circuitry to be activated (and the Protection LED to go on) whenever the operating
temperature of the unit rises above a safe level. To guard against this problem,
make sure the Servo Series receives adequate ventilation on all sides and that both
the front and rear panels are unobstructed.
    • Severe overcurrent conditions: This occurs whenever the signal being output from the
Servo Series rises to a level above 20% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion).
    • Shorted speaker cables: This will occur if, due to faulty wiring, the hot and ground signals
being output by the Servo Series are shorted to one another.
    • Output impedance drops below 4 ohms: This can occur if the Servo Series is connected
to inappropriate speaker systems (see the “Setting Up and Using Your Servo Series”
section on page 6 in this manual for more information).
    • DC voltage detected at speaker output: The most likely cause of this is an internal failure.
In general, any time the Protection LED lights up (other than during the approximately
five seconds following initial power-up), there is reason to be concerned. If this
occurs, turn the Servo Series off immediately and carefully check all wiring and external
devices in order to locate and correct the condition that caused the LED to light up
    in the first place.

For further assistance, contact your local Samson dealer. If purchased in the United
States, you can call Samson Technical Support (1-800-372-6766) between 9 AM and 5
    PM EST.

Clicking with no Sound

The TV is on protect mode. This happens when an internal fault is detected. When a fault is detected the protection circuit prevents the TV from starting , the clicking sound is the protection switch that keeps turning off the TV.
Sometimes protection is triggered by an incorrect voltage, or electrostatic charges accumulating on the TV PSU capacitors. In that case the problem is temporary, and will disappear leaving tv unplugged for some times. More often, when tv goes on protect there is an internal fault that must be fixed.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Tv Turn sound on, No Picture, turns itself off within seconds

The TV is trying to go on protect mode because an internal fault had been detected. For that reson the protection circuit keeps turning off TV continuously.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

When i turn on my samsung HT-Z110, the word "Protect" appears...

Protect mode will kick in whenever a fault is detected.

You get the unit not powering up, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that is the protection switch that keeps shutting down the unit.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.
