The console of my treadmill displays time and speed incorrectly

The console of my proform 380E treadmill displays additional lines in numbers when showing speed and time. Otherwise the machine seems to work correctly. Is this a console or a sensor problem?

Hi. if you are talking about the same segment in all the characters of your display being lit, then it is a console problem - it will not be a hard thing to fix but you will need a board level electronic serviceperson to do it for you

Run the software calibration for easy troubleshooting and fix it. God bless you
Calibration for "Newer Style" Consoles

The Calibration sequence can generally be used to accomplish the following: 1) To reset the treadmill's speed software, if the running belt seems to be moving faster or slower than the speed indicated on the console. 2) To reset the treadmill's incline software, if the walking deck seems to be elevated higher or lower than the height indicated on the console. 3) To synchronize the treadmill's electronic package ANY TIME a replacement part (anything electrical) has been installed and is being prepared for use. 4) This should be the first step performed when attempting to diagnose or troubleshoot the unit.Calibration often helps in correcting minor "bugs" in the software (by "resetting"), before actually having to replace components.

Before You Begin:

You must first determine the model number and style of unit of the unit being worked on. Do this by:

  • Powering up the treadmill and removing the emergency stop key (usually a magnetic plastic piece that attaches to the top, center of the console). If you see "10" in the console, it is an old style console and the "Older Style" Calibration should be referenced. If an "SI-1" appears in the console, it is a newer console. The following calibration sequence can be performed.

Note: To change any of the current codes (if incorrect or out of sync), use the SPEED + or SPEED -(minus) button(s).

Refer to the Calibration Chart (or the unit's owner's manual if not on the chart) to verify that the calibration codes on the unit (represented as "??" below) are correct.

The Steps for Newer Style Console Calibration

  1. Locate the calibration area on the rear or underside of the console (a hole, near the console's center, that goes through to the electronics board. (This hole should not have a screw in it.)

  2. Insert a pencil (eraser end), into the hole and feel around for the cal button (will click when pressed).

  3. Press the button 2 times (with the pencil eraser). The first click should show CL11 in the console, the second click should show CL21.

  4. If the process was done correctly, and CL21 appears in the console, you are in "calibration mode." The next few steps consists of pressing buttons on the console and observing settings. This will not require any other tools.

  5. Press ENTER. CL22 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  6. Press ENTER. CL23 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  7. Press ENTER. CL24 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  8. Press ENTER. CL25 should display in the TIME window and (??) in the SPEED window.

  9. Press ENTER. CL26 should display in the TIME window. You should then see the letter "E."

  10. Press ENTER. You should see "SS" or "55" in the console.

  11. Push the STOP/START button. For safety, at this point, you should step off, or be off, the treadmill.

  12. Push the ENTER button. The walking belt should start to move, accelerate to maximum speed, then stop on its own.

  13. When the belt stops, the incline should self test by raising to its highest incline position, then lowering back down to its lowest position.

  14. Once the incline test is complete, push the POWER button 2 times. The unit should shut off and the console should go completely blank. If this happens, the treadmill is done calibrating and is ready for use.

Proform treadmill zt 5 runs but display is dead

If what you say is that all functions are working (start, speed up , down and incline up,down) then the upper console lighting may have loose wire harness( check first) bad soldier connection or the components that generate the images on the LCD are defective. If you have good connections on the wire harness then you may need to replace the upper console.

Treadmill displays incorrect speed. I always run at 4.2 MPH. Today, with the switch in the same position, the display says 6.6 MPH, but the belt is turning at the same 4.2 MPH. I tried unplugging unit...

Treadmill is more than likely in metric. Most mill (if in english measurement) will start out at .5 metric usually star at .8 Not sure how to change for treadmill but it should be in the manual.
