The unit is rated at 120 watts total output ( 60 watts per channel x2 channels) As far as being worth fixing it depends on the price of the parts and what you want to do after its fixed. I looked around a little and the unit gets good reveiws from owners. They say its great for a "just music" system.

I am a comercial electrician. My company installed 2 Denon recievers on a job and 1 has gone dead. There is power to the unit but no power to the recepticals on the back. Is there a reset or a fuse?

Are they "switched" recepticles? I believe they are but, the picture I'm looking at is too small. This is the manual for the unit;
http://usa.denon.com/DocumentMaster/US/DRA-397-OM-E_103.pdf
This is the link:
http://usa.denon.com/US/Product/Pages/Product-Detail.aspx?Catid=3ae4a4d9-ae28-4018-bb66-611b99e1320d&SubId=0&ProductId=8e00bd6c-d3e2-466f-b5a0-c7ebe94e0bd9
Just glancing at the manual, of course it doesn't mention a fuse but, I'm quite syre if you pull off the cover, there is a fuse or two on the circuit board. Anyway, I wasn't trying to be smart about the "switched receticles and, you probably already knew but, if they are switched recepticles, they will only work when the unit is turned on.

Denon dra 397 shuts done if I turn on both zone a & b. Have a 100 watt volume control on each pair of speakers. Works fine with only zone a or zone b on, but not both.

Let's understand this - you have an external volume control wired in series with each front speaker set?

Can you elaborate on their electrical characteristics?

What can i do to be able to take my denon dra685 out of protection mode??????

I just recently picked up a Denon DRA-685 receiver that was stuck in protection mode. I found a site online that suggested it was due to two bad resistors on the main circuit board. More specifically resistor R-105 and R-106. They are both 1 ohm x 1 watt resistors. I ordered these from a supplier on Amazon for a few dollars, and just snipped the old resistors off, leaving the soldered leads sticking out. I then thinned the new leads and soldered them to the protruding wires, so I didn't have to remove everything. The unit now works like new. I'm happy I spent the time doing this, and grateful to the tech who discovered the common problem with this unit. Hope this can help somebody else. H

Denon DRA-397 - the stand by button light is blinking red and I have tried the reset but it did not work. Does anyone have any other ideas?

You may want to check your output transistors,They are the ones mounted to the big heat sink.With a ohm meter measure across one of the legs to another there should be no shorts.If you see anything burnt that channel will be bad causing the unit to stay in protect mode to prevent futher damages

Denon dra-95vr receiver has no sound out. All

Two things to check. First, the 95VR can be deceiving because it has a "variable loudness" control that some may mistake for volume. The actual volume is controlled by the big up and down arrows on the upper right side. If the volume is turned up, you should see the volume bar graph display show up. If none of the inputs are giving you volume, and the volume is turned up, then try running the output from the processor loop output in the back to another amplifier. The processor out is jumpered to the processor in for normal operation. Missing jumpers could cause a problem also. If there is sound coming to the processor out, then you have a problem with the power amplifiers. Best to refer that to a technician.
