R31 stops loading bios, error 0188, bad CRC2, backup Windows Pro, should be on harddisk, how to start backup when bios does not load? Geir Vidar

Hey there... I believe the 0188 code is a bad systems board error, or it could be a memory error. Try removing the DIMM using only on-board memory to see if you can get by.

If you cannot get by the BIOS error, I would remove the hard drive, connect it to another system and backup your data files (if they aren't already backup somewhere else.

You can buy R31 parts-machines on ebay for a few dollars, possibly you can replace your systems board... but, for a few dollars more, you can buy a working R31. Get a new one and put your hard drive in it and you will be as good as new!

I was installing software on the computer when it froze so shut it down. When restarted it wouldnnt reboot. Error came up 01888: Invalid RFID Serialization Info Area or Bad CRC2

What software,???

Have you changed the operating system from what the laptop came with.

When it posts see what version bios you have, then go to the website
of your MFG and see if there is a newer version, if you have the newest,
flash the bios to an older one, if you have a older one flash to a newer one.

If you don;t have your manual, get it while you there, are read how to flash your bios very carefully, make sure you know it well before you do this.

You can also try, system restore, or recovery, again, when your laptop
first posts, at the bottom you will see commands, one for enter bios,
boot order, and so on one should be restore or system restore.

The error you posted is a bios error, so it depends if you have changed things or systems.

Try and restore the unit first and see if this works.

TIME DATE LOCK 0271

This IBM 0271 error code means the Date and Time setting in the BIOS is incorrect and needs to be reset in the BIOS configuration.
This is caused by a dead or nearly flat BIOS battery.
You need to replace the BIOS battery and reset the Date and Time.

My IBM thinkpad A21e is showing me an error message

You need to replace your BIOS battery. The battery is old and cannot maintain the BIOS configuration. That is why you are getting incorrect date and time and bad CRC error.
Replace the battery and then configure the BIOS settings.

ERROR 0271

Are you a computer whizz? (do you know a lot about computers like me?)

Could be the Cpu fan (Central Processing Unit)
That could be lethal to the laptop.
Just as well it's a IBM other wise . . .
As for the error it means the time and date are not set.
soloution: run the bios setup utillity to reset time and date.
