IPod Touch won't be read

Wont read what ?

Sometimes, you might find that your computer does not read that the iPod is connected to the USB port, preventing the synchronization of new files.

There are several potential causes for this lack of hardware recognition and many steps can be taken to troubleshoot the causes.

Reset your iPod's internal software using the key combination appropriate for your model. Apple's support documentation details how to do this for each available model.

(See Resources)

Install all iTunes software updates and restart your computer.

Connect your iPod directly to a USB port on the computer.

Do not attach through a keyboard port or USB hub.

These might not provide enough power to operate the iPod.

Connect the iPod to a secondary USB port.

If the iPod is recognized now, the original USB port might be damaged.

Connect the iPod using a secondary iPod USB cable.

If the iPod is recognized now, the original USB cable might be damaged and should be replaced.

Restore the iPod using a computer that can read it as a last resort. Connect the iPod to another computer, launch iTunes and select "Restore" from the iPod information screen.

This will erase all data and restore default settings.

Contact Apple support or visit an Apple store for further help if your iPod still cannot be seen. An advanced hardware issue might be present and a warranty hardware replacement might be indicated.

Hope this helps

My ipod touch is disable and when i connect it to itunes it says to put in password on ipod bit how when its disable

1. disconnect the usb cable from the touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computers usb port

2. power off the touch, (press and hold the sleep/wake button for a few seconds untill the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the touch to turn off.

3. press and hold the home button while reconnecting the usb cable to the touch. When you connect the cable to the touch it should then power on.

4. continue holding the home button while the touch starts up you will see the apple logo

5. when you see connect to itunes, on the screen you can release the home button and itunes will display the recovery mode message.

when you do that correctly, then you can restore the touch.

Disabled and code problems will be reset / removed.

No idea how to connect an iPod!

You need to buy an extra cable that connects to the back of the radio, it is ipod ready but you need buy the cable. The front USB port is just for mp3 or mp4 players that you can connect via a USB port.

I cannot install music from my computor to my Ipod 4 nano

If you can't connect iPod nano to your computer , make sure;
  • you have installed the latest iTunes software from www.apple.com/ipod/start.
  • Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer. Note: A USB 2.0 port is recommended to connect iPod nano. USB 1.1 is significantly slower than USB 2.0. If you have a Windows PC that doesn’t have a USB 2.0 port, in some cases you can purchase and install a USB 2.0 card. For more information, go to www.apple.com/ipod.
  • iPod nano might need to be reset (see page 64).
  • If you’re connecting iPod nano to a portable or laptop computer using the iPod Dock Connector to USB 2.0 Cable, connect the computer to a power outlet before connecting iPod nano.
  • Make sure you have the required computer and software. See “If you want to double check the system requirements” on page 68.
  • Check the cable connections. Unplug the cable at both ends and make sure no foreign objects are in the USB ports. Then plug the cable back in securely. Make sure the connectors on the cables are oriented correctly. They can be inserted only one way.
  • Try restarting your computer.

Ipod ready/USB problem

The USB port is to be used with USB mass storage devices like flash drives, thumbdrive or external hard drives. The IPod's USB connection is not seen as a mass storage device it is proprietary. You need the iPod connection kit, part number KS-PD100 to connect your iPod to the deck.

Connecting a camera/ipod

The reason the ipod doesn't work is because it contains a hard drive and the USB port on the tv is a flash drive port only, this might be the same issue with the camera, if you go to the philips website you can download a software upgrade for the tv but it will not solve the hard drive issue the port just won't support it

IPod Shuffle and compatibility with USB ports

yes it's a common problem, it might be a usb 2.0 or high speed usb port but the motherboard is unable to supply enough ampage to supply the port. Assuming you have tried removing other usb connected peripherals and tried a different port, the only way you may get the ipod to connect is to purchase a mains powered usb hub as the power supplied is sufficient to connect to ipods and pda's etc.
