SOURCE: Bosch SHX46A dishwasher

I have a Bosch SHX46B05UC/14 and it stopped functioning right. It filled, it ran, it drained, it sounded okay, but I finally determined there wasn't enough circulation pump pressure to swing the spray arms. Turns out the problem was a pump pressure adjustment screw, accessible under the kick plate, had backed off--now if I can only figure out how to set it properly, low enough to clean the glassware, high enough not to break the pots and pans--or is it the other way around. I also found some beans in the drain sump (easy to remove cover plate from inside with a torx driver, large object trap not locked down properly and a riser for the upper spray arms not press fit sufficiently into pump outlet (I wonder if I blew the line while setting pump pressure. I AM looking for guidance on how to properly set the pump pressure, for the moment, I simply turned it into its spring loaded range and cranked it down a few turns.

SOURCE: Bad smell on dried dishes after being washed.Stale water smell.

correct, no filters to clean, but what you are smelling is soap residues that have built up on the heating element and when it goes thru the heat dry cycle, it burns the soap causing the odors.
trying the cleaners you have may help but the cause is the residues. you need to use a d/w cleaner like d/w magic or citric acid. if you just run the unit with the waterheat option and vinegar in a bowl right side up in the top rack, it should rinse out the residues then dont use to omuch soap and only use dry powder soap. no tablets or liquids.
run hot water at the faucet first and then be sure to use the heat option. it may take a few cycles to get rid of the odor but it will go away as you get the unit cleaned out.

Water in the bottom dw smells. It's not from wet dishes dripping. It just appears every few days.Would my disposal have something to do with it?I don't know how to take it apart to find out.

try washing without dishes with a cup of vinegar or get a product at the store call dish washer cleaner that you use it in and empty dish washer to clean and remove smell.
also could be clogged strainer in the bottom of DW then need to be cleaned out!

I have a Maytag dishwasher with sanitize, steam clean, etc. Should I use powder or liquid detergent?

Hi,
It is best to try a few different ones... different detergents work differently with the different dishwasher/water combo's... ya can never tell what the best soap will be till ya try them in your DW with your water...

Also get some TSP and add that it will help the soap work better...

My dishes come out gritty, mostly the ones on the upper rack, for instance glasses and bowls appear more dirty than when they were put in the DW. I also noticed that the heating element is flaking and...

Could be food debris cooked into the element, or possibly scale build up in it. Either way, there are dishwasher cleaning chemicals available in shops. There will also be a filter in the wash tank that can be removed and cleaned. I would suggest getting a cleaning shot or two and running the machine on its hottest wash a few times to start with. If this doesn't sort it out then see about getting the wash tank descaled

Water is pouring out of the detergent dispensing drawer from my 1 year old Samsung clothes washer model WF328AAW. When I opened the drawer, it was full of water. Something must be plugged. Is there...

Pull the drawer out you will find detergent has built up in side the dispenser probably from from way too much detergent, modern front loaders work best with a small amount of detergent and liquid detergent normally will wash better.

Dishes not getting clean, left with gritty residue. Could the filter be backed; if so how do I fix it?

Had the same problem with a GE Nautilus 3400 series.
Solution:

- In their manual, GE recommends not stacking tall dishes on the bottom right tray - this prevents the dishwashing powder from fully dissolving. Are you using the right detergent and rinse-agent ?

If your upper arm is not turning during wash (DW leaves residue on top-shelf items), do the following:

1) Empty the DW.

2) Pull down the rotating arm on the DW ceiling. Thoroughly clean the passageways (I had to tap it on the counter to break-down the sediments).

3) Inspect the mesh-screen filter located on the floor in the back - if it's backed up (ours was backed-up from the inside), you'll need to clean it by removing 4, 1/4" screws holding it to the DW floor and throughly cleaning it (I also unscrewed the plastic valve located on the bottom of the filter compartment). While you're at it, remove the plastic mesh on the DW floor (2 screws) and fish for any objects and sediments blocking the pump.

4) Replace filter and bottom mesh and operate the DW in "Rinse" mode.

5) Press the rotating arm back in and operate the DW in "Rinse" mode. Check rotation.

- Good Luck !
