If the light isn't coming on then your issue lies within the charger. Try picking up a new one, they usually run pretty cheap and are not that hard to find, good luck.
Did you put the battery back in? Just checking. This sometimes happens with the PSP's. The charger it's self looses the ground. Try plugging in a car charger, or use a charger that will charge the battery out of the PSP.
It sounds like the electrical input isn't working. Try plugging the chargers into other wall jacks. It could be that your PSP is defective, which in that case you should exchange it at the store you bought it at. Since you bought it brand new, it should still be under warranty.
This happened to me too, you have to take your phone back to who you bought it from so they can repair it. Its the chip inside the phone that is bad. Not the charger.
its because your not suppose to use universal!!! my cousin has a universal and it takes for ever to Charge the charger was probably to weak for example the psp's charge is suppose to be 5 volts and the charger was probably 3 volts so the poor charger coulnt handle it and burned... try getting a new batterie. and a good charger
this is easy i solved it! buy a charger from gamestop that you have to take the battery out and then put it in the charger and charge it that way! that way if your fuse inside your psp is out it will charge the battey without putting it in the psp so all you do with the item is: take your battery out, put it in the alternative charger from gamestop (does not come with psp slim 2001 or 2000) plug the charger in the while charge the battery then bam!! there you go problem solved have a fun time playing your psp!
Did you charge it first? You need a good initial charge. Depending on the charger, it could be about 6 hours.
Also, remove the battery and check the metal contacts on the top and make sure that they are not covered by anything. Some come with a film to protect them.
