Question about Washing Machines

Maytag Washer won't spin

I've read the one item on this site dealing with this problem, and it was a point. But before I go any further with my efforts, I need to ask a question. First of all, when I tipped the machine up and saw that the belts seemed healthy, and that I could turn the pully both directions, I lowered the machine and opened the top. I tried to turn the tub by hand, but it would not move. My question is: does this indicate a brake problem? And, if so, how do I fix that?

Re: Maytag Washer won't spin

The inner tub will not move, this is normal. When it goes into spin the brake releases. Let me know the model number and your complaint.

We just moved and the house came with a Maytag Neptune TL which won't spin if there are clothes in the cylinder. It will spin empty. Please help! Thanks.

Washer bangs around in spin cycle and throws a DC or UC unballance code with cloths in the wash basket is that correct?

If so it's a Clutch issue.

If you want read more about what I feel is your issue read this post Maytag Neptune load unbalance

Repost on that site in the Maytag forum and I will help.

Washer will spin but won't agitate and it "puts the brakes on" when finished spinning

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. This unit spins in one direction for spin and the other for agitate. If its not agitating and the motor is running then the trans failed. Some of these have a ten year trans and labor warranty. Go to maytag site and put in your model and serial and check the warranty. And the brakes on this unit are pretty quick to stop.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

My washer wont spin when it gets to the spin cycle. Clock doesn't seem to be working at this point in time

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. If your washer doesn't drain or spin, you may read and learn what parts may cause this. First, you will want to check your water pump. You need to make sure it is working. Make sure you check the belt on the pump. Make sure it is not broken or loose. Also, make sure your pulley is not stuck in place. Sometimes, they will stick or barely turn at all. If this is the case, you will need to replace it. If the pump, pulley, and belt are working, make sure your motor is working. You should be able to hear it if it is. If it isn't, check your lid switch. The lid switch can cause the motor to not work. It may need adjusted. If not, go ahead and change it. A bad lid switch may cause the washer to not work at all. Now, if your pump is pumping and the washer still won't spin, you will want to check your belt and clutch. Once again, the belt may be broke or loose. Check to make sure your clutch is not worn also. This may be a case of a bad lid switch again as well. You could have a bad drive motor. This is what controls spinning, draining, and agitation. You could have a broken motor coupler. Over time, they will go bad and need replaced. It is possible that your transmission is slipping or damaged. And lastly, you could have a bad basket drive ir spin bearing. This is what allows the inner tub to move. If this is the case, you will probably hear loud sounds or loud banging. I want to thank you for reading and I hope this helps you. Best regards and thanks for reading

MLE200AYW washer does not spin

lets start with the basics, Door lock indicator coming on?? is door actually locking?? if not, i would lean toward the top board AS WELL as wax motor and door switch,.. assuming all lights are functioning correctly then head toward lower Motor control board. depending on age of machine, you would replace both motor and control board as a kit.NEPTUNE REPAIR KIT (very rarly an issue with motor) would be a possible out-of-balance swithc located around the tub(if one of them faults out then the tub will not spin either. theres 3 things i check, and when in doubt i call the maytag techline for further help troubleshooting. As long as servicer is a maytag autherized repair co. he can call as well

Spin issue with first model of washer maytag neptune

I think you have what's known as the "R11 and Q6 Problem".  The quick and costly repair method is to replace the circuit board.  The less expensive way is described at this Web site:  I followed the steps for replacing the R11 resistor and the Q6 Triac on the circuit board and ti solved my no-spin issue.

The vendor that I used is Unicorn Electronics located at

Here are the parts that you need:

NTE5657 Triac-600VEM 0.8A
Item #: 49-6272
Price: US$3.63

3.9K Ohm 1/4 W Carbon Film Resistors 50 Pack Item #: 10-8086
Price: US$1.99
