The drum is stuck - it will not move

Indesit Top-load washing machine. The drum is stuck in upside down position and won't turn or move by force. The clothing is inside. The washing machine goes through a cycle - fills water and drains water - but the drum doesn't turn. It doesn't spin either. The engine makes the usual noises - but the drum is stuck?

I did inspect it visually after disconnecting water and electricity, but the bearings are on each side of the sealed plastic unit with the drum - and they both seem to be fine. There's no belt from the engine as the engine seems to be connected directly to the sealed unit.

Well - I got wiser. I hadn't removed the other side of the washing machine where the motor and Belt is. yes - there's a belt and it had snapped - probably while attempting to spin because the drum was stuck.

The drum moves maybe 0,5-1 cm either direction until it hits something and a clanking/scraping noise is heard from the bottom of the washing machine. it sounds like the closing mechanism of this top-loading washing machine is somehow stuck at the bottom of the sealed plastic unit the drum is inside. At the bottom is the outlet for the washing water. Maybe the opening/closing mechanism has failed and it has opened and got stuck in an upside-down position? When looking through the top cover of the washing machine it appears as if i'm looking at the bottom of the drum.

Hmm. The belt is completely off. it partially melted in one place and snapped. the flywheel and engine are completely exposed - there doesn't seem to be any other parts of the belt there.

How does one remove the drum? The drum is located within a plastic unit which appears to have been closed by a series of plastic rivets all around on both sides of the drum.

I had an issue with my Electrolux top loading washing machine where the drum got stuck with the drum dor facing the bottom and manged to fix it as follows: Opening the side panel of the washing machine showed that the belt fell off as well.
The heater element in this machine is located on the bottom side of the drum casing just above the engine. I have removed the wires connected to the element, unscrewed the nut holding the element in place and removed it. From this I got access to the inside of the drum casing and could close the lid in order to turn the drum up again. Seems like this happened due too putting too much clothes in the machine so the door got opened when it reached the bottom position and got stuck on the heating element.

How do i change a belt on a indesit washer machine its a wd 12

Usually there is a back panel that can be removed to give access to the motor and pulley wheel for the drum. If not then remove the top panel and look down the back and you will see the big drum wheel. you will also be able to see the spindle for the motor at the bottom. Reach down to the motor and hook the belt around the spindle and place as much of it as possible on the pulley then turn the wheel to pull the rest of the belt on. It can be a little tricky but the only other way is to completely remove the back half of the machine. If you get stuck try www.espares.co.uk and check the advice centre, it gives a video on how to change a belt, most machines are similar. Hope this helps.

Washing machine is making noise even when drum isn't moving. Constant noise as if something is stuck inside.

hello,

the problem is from the jet stream that is the(rotor) which generate force on the drum to move on to is position it means that is weak it need to be replace or service
to service it you will have to unscrew the washer and adjust the jet back to is position connected to the drum then clean any form of dirt around it

but if you need to get another one apply online on at www.appliancecanada.com/ full of surprises like Washing machine Electric Cooktops · Gas Cooktops. Microwaves ... Sales centres are located in. Toronto and London, Canada.

good luck and thanks for using fixya.

Drum is stuck and does not move after a noiny spin. pls advice.thanks

Sounds like possibly the main drum bearings have seized.
To check, remove the rear panel of washer, remove the drum belt, and try to turn the drum by hand, if it is noisy or rumbling, or not turning at all, then likely the the drum bearings have seized.
This is a major repair, and could be expensive!!!

Wd10 indesit washer banging

It could be the drum bearings. If you can move the drum up and down, the bearings is worn. It could also be the balanceweight that sits on the top of the outer tub that have gone loose. It's usually made of cement, or cast iron.

We have a indesit wil 143s faulty

the pressure switch should be easy to replace. it will be a round unit with wires going into it and also a small clear plastic tube attached. it is usually mounted around the top edge of the case. i would also check that the pressure system is not blocked (the other end of that clear plastic tube) as blockages may keep pressure at the switch leaving it in the "full position" pop the pressure tube off of the switch and force some air down the tube to check.tony.
