How to Dispose of Gasoline Bob Vila

As old gasoline evaporates, it leaves a residue of the consistency of varnish. Leaving gas in mowers, etc. over winter may lead to the necessity to clean the carburetor. You would get a better result diluting old gasoline with new at a 50/50 ration but any idea of using it in a $30,000 automobile ought be dismissed.

Frigidaire FDG36RES2 Gas Dryer Stops Heating

Instructions
    • 1 Open the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink and remove the contents. Turn the hot and cold water supply valves off.
    • 2 Turn off the power to the breaker controlling the garbage disposal switch from your breaker box.
    • 3 Place a pan beneath your old disposal. Use the pipe wrench to remove the old disposal's plastic outflow pipe from the U-shaped outflow drain.
    • 4 Use a screwdriver to remove the plate on the bottom of your old disposal. Disconnect the wiring with a pair of needle-nose pliers.
    • 5 Spin the old disposal counterclockwise inside its mounting bracket until it comes free.
    • 6 Line up the new disposal with the mounting bracket and slip it up and onto the mounting bracket. Twist it to the right to tighten it into place.
    • 7 Remove the screw holding the wiring plate at the bottom of the new disposal. Once you have removed the plate, connect the ground wire to the ground nut. Connect the positive wire to the positive wire terminal inside the disposal. Once these wires are connected, put the wiring cover and retaining screw back into place.
    • 8 Use the pipe wrench to attach the outflow pipe to the rear of the disposal.
    • 9 Turn the water and electricity back on and test the new disposal.

What is the safest way to dismantle and dispose of my old dehumidifier?

Most counties and cities have a plan for the disposal of old dehumidifiers, AC units, refrigerators, etc.
This is because of the Freon gas that may still be in the compressor. Contact your local officials about their disposal site.

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Need to replace all gas lines

  1. Empty the fuel tank on the chainsaw of any remaining fuel. Pull the cap from the tank and turn the unit upside down. Drain the fuel into an approved fuel container. If the fuel is old (more than about a year) dispose of it according to local regulations for hazardous materials. (It can be kept longer by adding a fuel stabilizer.)
  2. Pull the fuel line where it attaches to the carburetor using the end of the needle-nose pliers. The old fuel line may take some force to pull free from the metal tube.
  3. Push on the fuel line to feed it into the fuel tank. Hold the chain saw upside down. Shake the unit to get the fuel filter into the opening of the tank. Pull the filter free of the tank. Feed the remaining fuel line through the access hole at the bottom of the tank. Dispose of the filter and old fuel line in accordance with disposal regulations.
  4. Feed one end of the new fuel line into and through the bottom access hole of the fuel tank. Push approximately 6 to 8 inches into the tank. You can pull back any excess line later. Grab the end of the plastic line with the needle-nose pliers. Bring the line through the gas tank fill opening.
  5. Attach the new filter to the end of the new fuel line. Feed the filter back into the fuel tank. Pull any excess line from the tank. You will want approximately 3 to 4 inches of fuel line inside the tank.
  6. Route the new fuel line to the carburetor. Cut the line to length with the cutters on the needle-nose pliers. Attach the line to the metal tube.
  7. Fill the fuel tank with fresh gas-oil fuel for 2-stroke engines and start the chainsaw. It may take a few pulls to prime the new line with fuel.
  8. Some models come with a priming bulb. Make sure you press the priming bulb three to four times before trying to start. This will prime the gas lines and remove any excess air trapped in the lines.

Need to empty fuel tank of old gas

Not an easy task. You need to remove and disconnect the tank. Depending on how old the gas (more than 1-2 years) is it may be cheaper to replace the tank than trying to clean out the old gas residue which will repeatedly plug your lines and filters. After you remove the tank dump the gas into approved containers then dispose or properly. Check with your city or county officials they should be able to tell you where to dispose of toxic waste.

Old gas in 2000 R1

drain it out. fill with new fuel, and system cleaner, then flush old out of the rest of system. This is better than mixing with octain boost and running it out.(use a lenth of fuel line to drain fuel into disposal can instead of getting old gas on your bike)
