The cartridges have small chips on the lower face Once it registers empty that casette will not woek again. Many of the replacement cartridges that are not genuine have this chip missing. You can transfer the old chip to the new vcartroidge ( if its not a genuine with a replacement reset chip. I think you can by a chip resetter for this model. do a web search fot your model they are por etty cheap to buy

How to reset mp630

Hi

auto-reset chips reset when ink cartridge is removed and replaced, but only if ink level display indicates 'ink out' already. Any other time the ink levels stay the same.

When i try to print give message that '' ink has run out, replace the ink cartridge and close the cover" and so on the orange light is blinging.

Ink has run out mean in cartridge ink level counter reach zero level. Cartridge can not be used again even though it was refilled, because the counter still reads zero level.Replace the new cartridge or reset the counter using ip1600 ink level resetter. But I thinkthe more effective is to turn off the ink level counter. Just press the ink button about 30 seconds and then release. After that will appear ink level counters have been released. In the ink image on the monitor status will appear gray.

Printer does not go

After few head cleaning, ink counter running low, so ink ligh (red) flashing. Then ink counter runing out, so the light stayed on. After replacing both of ink, red light stayed on, because the compatible ink (chip) not recognized by printer. Check epson status monitor. Use original ink or refill and reset ink level counter.

My canon printer mp190 ran out of ink while printing. The ink was a refill. I bought new refill cartridges for color and black and cannot get it to reset. It keeps flashing E at me. I have held the reset...

well, you need to get NEW cartridges because there is a NON-resetable ink level sensor, once that detect no ink is left in the cartridge, it reports a empty cartridge to the printer, no way to change that, the only fix is to replace the cartridge with a new one, on epson printers you can reset the sensor, most other brands you cant

Why flash by 5 times the orange led?

Probably your waste ink counter should be cleaned or replaced before resetting but usually you can get away with resetting once.
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER

0 presses - green light - Test Print (exit service for i960)
1 press - orange light - EEPROM info print
2 presses - green light - EEPROM initialise
3 presses - orange light - reset waste ink counter.

This also applies to the i550, i560, i950, i960

Good Luck, I hope this helps?!

Red lights flashing

The term to google is waste pad counter or protection counter, there are loads of sites and discussions on the subject. what has likely happened is the charging of the new ink cartridges has pushed the counter over the brink.

Green and red light flashing

SSC Service Utility allows you to do many things to your Epson printer, Work directly with CSIC in Epson Stylus printers cartridges, Freeze internal ink counters, Reset internal ink counters even with empty cartridges, Separate cleaning of color and black heads for all Epson inkjet printers, powerful cleaning mode, Hot swapping of cartridges supported, Resetting of protection counter (even then it is already full), More then 60 different Epson printers supported This allows many people with high printing demands to save money (program works with both black and color cartridges).

Power light and red light keep flashing alternatively

If both lights are flashing alternately, it means the Waste Ink Pads in your printer are saturated with ink and the waste ink ("protection") counter has exceeded its limit. The Waste Ink Pads should be replaced as soon as possible. You can overcome this problem temporarily by using the SSC utilit to reset the Protection Counter. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation.

However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer.

If you decide to have a go at replacing the ink pads yourself, report back and I will provide further help.
