Help I'm being harrassed online?

I am being blocked from yahoo and when I diagnose connection problems it says a firewall is blocking me from this site. Does this mean my computer has a virus? Before I got blocked from the site a crazy person sent me an email harrassing me and now I can't go on yahoo because of them. I think it is a pedophile or someone with satanist/extreme religious views. I'm afraid they will send me bad pictures or put a virus in my computer if they haven't already. What do I do? How do I get rid of them? Did this person put a virus in my computer? Did Yahoo put a firewall against me? How do I get rid of the firewall?

If you look in start - settings - control panel you will find an icon named windows firewall
This is part of windows
If you double click on it you will see 3 tabs. Important for you is tab called exceptions. There you will find yahoo . If you check it no more firewall message wil shown when accessing yahoo.

Be sure if you have router too there is another firewall.

P.S.
Help I'm being harrassed online? - sdef_definition.gif - A firewall is a set of related programs, located at a network gateway server, that protects the resources of a private network from users from other networks. (The term also implies the security policy that is used with the programs.) An enterprise with an intranet that allows its workers access to the wider Internet installs a firewall to prevent outsiders from accessing its own private data resources and for controlling what outside resources its own users have access to.

Probably none of the above!

It is usually the firewall on your own computer. go into control panel ans select firewall and look for what sites are blocked. You can add yahoo.com to the allowed section. Then try

It is your ISP that can solve your firewall problem. Maybe a lot of bad online activities are on your same network and your whole network is being banned from yahoo including you.

Contact your ISP regarding your problem. Regarding email, just mark that harassing letter as SPAM so that every letter from that same person will automatically go to your SPAM folder and not to your inbox.

Regards!

Your firewall is blocking you. Its possible that a hacker could have gained control of your computer and reconfigured your firewall to block yahoo.

I can get on yahoo email account but cannot connect to yahoo messenger. I receive message that my yahoo virtual IP server failed. What can I do to use yahoo messenger?

You shouldn't have a virtual ip number unless you're using a VPN to connect to the net. Check your firewalls, router, anti-virus and make sure the port yahoo msg uses isn't blocked. Yahoo messenger support site should tell you what the port address is that needs to be opened to use it. TYpically they are not blocked but a firewall or other, like router or anti-virus may be configured to block the port,.

I can't sign in my yahoo messenger it always troubleshoot my internet connection is ok...

Similar "can't sign in" problems may be caused by your company/school network. Lots of networks may have firewall blocking instant messaging services.

If you are blocked, try to use KarooLark web Yahoo! messenger: http://karoolark.com/#yahoo . It also supports other web messengers too.

I couldn't log in to yahoo messenger

Good Day Downtown!

There are different possibility while you can not log in to Yahoo Messenger right now.

Better check if your internet connection is stable. You can also disable the Firewall setting on your system, most of the time Firewall blocks the connection of Yahoo Messenger especially when connection is wireless.

Also, make sure you type the user id and password correctly. check for spelling and capital letters when you type it.

If you can upgrade the Internet Explorer in your system, that would help in Yahoo connection issues. Cause Yahoo products rely its connection from Windows Internet Explorer.

Please go to http://icantsignintoyahoomessenger........
and take some time to read it cause this will helps in your connection issues.

Good Luck Downtown!
Hope you will comeback later after you have log in successfully with Yahoo Messenger.

Unable to sign on to yahoo messenger. I think my Daughter may have changed servers?

If your yahoo msngr is unable to connect, it all depends on firewall that blocks msngs connectivity. Try this open yahoo msngr> click on messanger> click on connection preferences> select no proxies> click ok. Now try login in.

I can't install Yahoo! Messenger showing this error message:

The issue lies in the Firewall settings. The Windows Firewall has blocked the Application from connecting to Web Servers. You must have to unblock it to get the problem resolved. If you have a Anti-Virus Firewall, reconfigure it, this will erase the Firewall's rules and will ask again that do you want the application from connecting to internet. You allow it and then it can download.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

I cant installe yahoo messenger because of a fire wall.

Try use Yahoo Messenger 9, the latest version. Before download yahoo messenger, make sure firewall allows your connection to download it. It shows that your PC protected from any harmful software because of your firewall. One more thing download your yahoo messenger only for trustful sources websites, it much better. i think you should check your firewall settings. Check also your Windows Firewall. I think there are some problems in your firewall settings. It may be blocked your yahoo messenger from downloading it into your PC. If you use Personal Firewall, make sure it allows your connection to receiving incoming connections and allows you to install yahoo messenger, check it out, may be it blocked your yahoo messenger. I think this tips can be help you a little bit.

Good Luck!
