We had the same problem and finally found a solution that has worked for us for many years. We found using dry powder detergents didn't work for us. They left a white film and scratched our glasses after years of use. We switched to Cascade All in One Gel and it stopped most of the film. Don't fill up the pre-wash with any detergent, if you have that option, just use the gel in the wash section and you don't need a lot. We fill it up to the lowest line and it cleans REALLY well, or what would be about 3 tablespoons or so. Next we use Jet Dry in the rinse dispenser and set it up to at least medium or 4 or 5 if you have a selection for your rinse dispenser. Next we put 1/2 cup of white vinegar in our dishwasher every time we wash. We pour it in the bottom right before we wash. We have been doing this for 9 years in our old dishwasher and a year in our newer one and have never had any trouble doing this. It leaves our dishes sparkling clean and the glasses aren't scratchy anymore. Make sure any trap down on the bottom of the dishwasher isn't stopped up too and once a month keep those spray holes cleared of any gunk by using a toothpick to clear any holes out of any gunk. Lastly, don't overload the dishwasher and make sure there is space between each dish and position all plates toward the center. Hope this helps. It has made our lives MUCH easier!

Problem is defiantely your hard water. www.dishwasherfilter.com has a new product out that will solve your problem guaranteed. it is a filter that removes the hard minerals that cause these spots/film before they enter your dishwasher. very affordable and works amazing. they even have a money back guarantee.

Button on sprayer is sticking with no spray

This is typical behavior or sprayers that aren't looked after. Mine typically last 20 years. After use, you need to empty it, wash it, pump the soap through, rinse it, pump the clean water through, empty it and blow air through it. Then leave it open to dry.

Take the wand off, and take everything apart and soak the parts in hot soapy water in your bathtub. Rinse and dry, rub any o-rings with vaseline.

Not Rinsing

By cleaning it out, you cleaned the bottom where the water is drawn in and food particles collect, right? Are the sprayer arms working good? The holes on them are not clogged with anything? How does the dishwasher drain? I mean do you have an air gap or does it drain directly into the disposal or sink pipe. Sometimes without an air gap, the disposal will send junk into the drain line if the check valve is not working properly, thus giving you excess food in the dishwasher.

My gilmour wheelpump sprayer just quit spraying. It appears to not be building up pressure. I have cleaned out the valve and screen on the bottom, removed and rinsed out the hollow oval 'ball'...

Your pump cam follower may be broken, such that the pump is just not working. It happened on mine. You don't need to buy any parts. If you open it up and find that the cam follower plastic tabs are broken, Gilmore provides a second set of 2 cam followers on the other side of the cam follower assembly. Just remove some screws, reverse the assembly, and you are back in business.

Machine runs but not cleaning dishes

You may have debris in the sprayer arm jets. It is usually simple to remove the sprayer arms. Then rinse them well using the sink sprayer for forceful water power. I have sometimes had to use a tweezer to remove bits of plastic, paper, bone, or food particles. Once you've remove the debris, rinse well forcing water through to dislodge any other debris. Once you've reattached the sprayer arms, you should have cleaner dishes. Also, some brands of dishwashers have a pipe that runs up the inside back wall and connects to a pipe that runs under the top shelf. Water flowing through this pipe under the top shelf propels the sprayer arms. If the connection at the back is not flush with the "propel" pipe there won't be enough water pressure to turn the sprayer arm. Check to see if your dishwasher has this type of set up.
I hope this works. If it does, please let Fixya know by rating my solution.
Good luck!

What is the rinse indicator clear knob inside door

That is the compartment for a liquid rinsing agent (Jet Dry). If you use it you can see if the compartment needs to be refilled by looking through the knob. Rinsing agent is supposed to keep glassware from having water spots but is not always necessary.

My glasses arecoming out with soap and water spots. I think the dishwashing soap has clogged up the washer/ sprayer arms. is there any cleaning solvant (eg CLR) I can use to clean out the washer

add rinse aid to rinse aid dispenser... that should help the spots.. as for cleaning the arms.. not really necessary... but you should pull them off occasionally and see if there is something stuck in the holes... i found rice in mine.

Indesit idl 705, tablet not dissolving and crockery still dirty, was working fine. Sprayer arm seems to not rotate freely

Clean EVERYTHING and ensure it's assembled correctly.
The sprayer arms have an unlocking ring and can be rinsed, the filters must be washed and rinsed and properly reassembled.
Even cleaning the door seals can help.
Test again, clean again (as more muck can be circulated).

Residue inside dishwasher sprayer arms

What it is called is calcium deposits, your water is high in calcium. You may have to clean the part occasionally with CLR or something similar.
You should look into flushing your hot water tank occasionally as well, calcium deposit biuld up after awhile and your water tank has to work extra hard to heat your water, which cost you more money in the long run.
Hope this helps you .
