It's probably the spinning brush hitting the wood floor.

SOURCE: Loud noise

This is the clutch as it jams up in the brush. Usually happens with rugs that are not secured to the floor.

The carpet is not intended to get soaked, like what you see with a spray application. If you are seeing a stream of water in the nozzle/tank during the recovery stroke, this is working properly.

You will need to pull the roller out and clean it. I think some of the strings are tangle up at the end of this roller. (Most rollers will come apart at the end for cleaning.) Make sure that the strings are not tangle up on the belt pulley as well. I hope this will help you.

Hoover makes terrible screaching sound when using upright.

It's most likely the bushings/bearings in the beater bar (roller). The beater bar cover is fairly easy to remove -- take it off and investigate. Could be that the roller only needs lubricating on the ends. Also, check the belt to see if it's intact or damaged.

Clean area thoroughly.

If this is not the problem, please, let me know.

Rug and floor nozzle brush not moving

What I had to do was take apart the vacuum head...which is very confusing, and the manual doesn't tell you how...the "secret" is to use a flat screwdriver to pop out the little wheels...there are two other screws "hidden" beneath them. Be careful as this exposes all the electrical parts as well - make sure you're unplugged! : )

Hoover Windtunnel carpet level adjustment

The suction is so great that it sucks up your carpet, then nothing works. I get my children to stand on the corners/edges of the rug so that it stays perfectly flat on the floor while I vacuum. Or, you can turn off the brush roller (set it to "hard floor" setting). Or, tip the vacuum cleaner's front up slightly while vacuuming, to reduce suction.

I need a new head or good second hand piece for my hero 1600 hover vacuum

The Hero 1600 should use 32mm type floor fittings which means on EBay you can pick up just about any type of floor tool which is suitable for most Hoover, Electrolux and Morphy Richards/Goblin appliances. This means you can use other branded tools and floor heads just by their fitment rather than the name.

EBay is a lot cheaper than having to order a brand new one from Hoover themselves. Alternatively try any floorcare repair shops who offer additional tools which can be purchased. 9 times out of 10 they will have a floor head which is similar to the one which has broken on yours.

HOOVER U9125 990Z VACUUM CLEANER

Sounds like either the hose or the inlet down where the brush roll is is clogged. Either that or you have a motor fan problem. But this has a years warranty on it, so find out who in your area does Hoover Warranty and take it in for repair.
