I have a Crest Audio V900, a set of Bose 901, a Gemini EQ-3000. Do I need a PREAMP? Or can I hook up the Crest AMP to the Equalizer?

You could use the EQ but it won;t sound as good as it will with a pre amp and also could make it a bit trickier when adjusting the volume and getting it to sound right.

B&k avr 7 with SACD inputs needs independent tone equalization settings

For your stereo configuration, refer to the preamp they are connected to for tone controls.
For your center and surround channels, refer to the B&K setup menus for those controls.

I have a Technics Quartz SL-10 Direct Drive Automatic turntable and I need a pre-amp to drive it through a JVC RX-6012VSL Audio Control System.....preferably a Technics pre-amp.

Technics Preamps on eBay:

There are, of course, many non-Technics PHONO preamps out there.

If you already have the central receiver and amplification part nailed down you really only need a Phono Preamp to boost and shape the output of the Phono Cartridge. Otherwise you're paying for source switching, volume and tones controls you don't need.

Low volume through amplifier

Turntables generate a very low signal. Phono inputs on receivers containa pre-amp section to boost the signal to "line level" or the same level as other audio devices. I would suspect that you need to add that pre-amp section. Phono preamps are available for around $20 or so and are inserted between the turntable and the standard audio input on the receiver or amp.

Hope this helps,

I just picked up a used QL-A2 Direct Drive turntable. It sounded fine when I got it. But now that I got it home, and hooked up to my receiver (I tried two receivers, same problem with both), the volume is...

Hi clausjones

You will need to have a Phono preamp connected in line if you are plugging it straight into a new millennium amp. the output of the turntable is about 100 times lower than a CD player, and need RIAA equalisation for it to sound any good. They don't include them anymore. Good thing is you can get an outboard preamp to do the job. Go here for units starting at $30

No sound comes out of the left pre outs

It sounds like the preamp wire that carries the left channel signal between the HU and the 2ch amp has an issue. Here's two quick things to check.
  1. Check that both ends of the left preamp cable between the deck and 2ch amp is not loose or disconnected.
  2. Swap the left and right preamp connections at the amp. If the issue stays with the left channel, the issue is with the amp. If the issue moves to the right channel, the issue is with the preamp cable or the HU's preamp output.
Let me know what you find out!
