PACKARD BELL PC NOT BOOTING UP

I UNINSTALLED NORTON ANTI VIRUS USING REVO UNINSTALLER LAST NIGHT AND ALSO AMENDED REGISTRY FOR UPPER/LOWER FILTERS AS INSTRUCTED PER MY PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH DRIVE NOT BEING RECOGNISED.

HOWEVER, WHEN MY PC RESTARTED IT TOOK ME INTO SYSTEM REPAIR - AND THEN GOT MESSAGE SAYING UNABLE TO REPAIR - AND NOW MY PC IS NOT BOOTING UP AT ALL - IT IS SITTING AT THE BOOT READY CURSOR AND NOT PROCEEDING ANY FURTHER.

ANY IDEA HOW I CAN FIX WHATEVER HAS HAPPENED!?

WELL EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE UNINSTALLING NORTON USING REVO UNINSTALLER AND I AMENDED THE REGISTRY KEY PREVIOUSLY ADVISED TO DO SO DELETING UPPER/LOWER FILTERS AS MY DVD DRIVE HAD NOT BEEN RECOGNISED -

HOWEVER WHEN REVO UNINSTALLER ASKED IF I WISHED TO RESTART FOR CHANGES FROM NORTON BEING UNINSTALLED TO TAKE PLACE I SELECTED YET - AND THEN I COULDNT BOOT THE PC UP AGAIN!!!

I ACCESS BIOS BUT TO BE HONEST DID NOT WANT TO MESS WITH IT AS NOT ENTIRELY SURE WHAT THE DEFAULT SETTING SHOULD BE OR THE BOOT ORDER RESPECTIVELY SO LEFT IT!

Hello Sir/Maam, I hope im wrong but chances are you may have destroyed the boot sector, or files are deleted that are part of the Operating System. The easest solution would be to reinstall a fresh copy of your OS. Reinstalling your OS will save you time and lots of headaches. and find any bad sectors. Hope this may help.

Glad to help YOU!

I'd suggest you to download and to install REVO UNINSTALLER (it can be found HERE, scroll down and choose the FREE VERSION; or - if you want to buy it - you can choose REVO UNINSTALLER PRO...). It's a FREE software that does a great job!
After you will install it you double-click on the icon and on the main window you will see the applications currently installed on your machine; select Norton application and click on UNINSTALL (upper side of the window) and then select ADVANCED (the last option in the bottom). Let the REVO do its uninstall and click NEXT and SELECT ALL and when it's done select FINISH. That's it!
This software not that will uninstall the application(s) but will also clean the REGISTRY of the leftovers.

My best wishes!

I have a Packard Bell ixtreme X6622 that worked beautifully until I decided to uninstall Norton and install Paretco anti virus trial software> I was then told about AVG and after reading about AVG...

Wow. No, it should not take that long to do a restore. The problem is stopping the restore MAY brick the system. Your problem seems to have started with the ParetoLogic. It seems this program will not uninstall properly unless you kill it in task manager first. http://support.paretologic.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2222917-how-to-uninstall-paretologic-internet-security-
This is strange because most security program cannot be disabled from task manager. Once you installed AVG you had 2 antivirus running at the same time - if not 3, Norton has been known to not uninstall cleanly. They even make a special removal tool. Download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool
If the restore finishes - great, if it doesn't and you have to shut down the computer, it should roll back when you reboot. That puts you back to where you started so follow the instructions to remove Paretologic, run the Norton Removal tool and just to be sure, run the AVG Removal tool because the install might have been corrupted. http://www.avg.com/ca-en/utilities

McAfee?? this product you need to check how to totally remove it from your netbook because it will block most of the other anti virus. Consider as business strategy, so that end user just use this anti virus, rather than other.

I learned that my CA software was not operating properly because I still have Norton anti-virus on my system. CA support told me to uninstall Norton and reinstall CA. I downloaded the Norton removal tool...

I would suggest you use the normal method to uninstall your Norton Anti-Virus instead of using the Norton Removal Tool. If you still have problems, then just reinstall Norton Anti-Virus and then uninstall using the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel. Once you do that, then you can install your CA software. WinFax has notthng to do with your Anti-Virus not working, or your CA. The WinFax problem only is a problem because of Norton's Removal Tool is flawed. Don't use it. http:/www.getfaxing.com/winfax

Cannot uninstall avg 8 completely

I have had AVG for a long time and it beats any antivirus i have ever had. but if you really want to remove it, use the add/remove programs, or go to the star menu, programs, AVG folder and select the UN-installer. once removed, then try again to install the new one. Make sure to select ( remove Virus Vault ) in the option when un-installing AVG.

If your still getting issues, go into C: and delete any remaing AVG system folders that may be left behind.

Good luck
