SOURCE: how to remove the cd player from Honda odyssey EX 2002 model

The trim panel that surrounds the radio and contains the climate controls and possibly 1 or 2 other switches needs to be removed. Apply gentle, even pressure on the edges and gradually move to the other edges, and the clips should pop out.

I would advise against unplugging the climate controls or radio however other switches can be unplugged safely.

Once the panel with the climate controls is removed there should be 4 phillips head screws holding the radio in place; remove those and you should be golden.

SOURCE: HU 850 CD stuck in player

One thing about Volvo CD player/changers...they tend to not like burned CDs and even more, burned CDs with labels on them.

I'd suggest against trying to get it out yourself.

You can get it replaced and the dealership should have a form so you can get your CDs sent back.

CD Mecha error message - Honda Odessey

There are several reasons why your CD changer may have failed but the most common is simply a mechanical failure (gears/motors/etc.) Unfortunately, these are complex machines and typically do require an electronic technician to repair the problem but the good news is they are repairable. So, you have a couple of options: replace the unit with an aftermarket, which for your car I would not recommend, or repair it. I would be happy to assist you further with a repair quote if you contact me directly: [email protected] or by tel: 877-4-RADIO-MD

Mecha error

This indicates a mechanical error... ie: the cd is jammed, the drive mechanism has become seized, if this a multiple CD changer, it's possible the CDs in the cartridge were inserted on a slight angle and the drive mechanism can't work with that.

If you're mechanically apt, consider removing the cover of the CD changer and releasing the mechanism by hand. If the unit is still under warantee or if you're not comfortable doing these things, repair might be your best option.

Disc wont change....or play....

e-mecha appears to be nothing more than an interlock. hitting reset clears the interlock, but if the problem has not been fixed, then the interlock will trip again, preventing operation. Determine why the radio goes into mechanical failure to begin with. Once fixed, the interlocks will be made and the radio will play. There are a number of events that all have to complete sucessfully including feedback from sensors to maintain the e-mecha interlock. One of your sensors is not being made, either by a sensor problem or by a mechanical issue that prevents the sensor from tripping. -Steve
