Yes, i have the same pc. I bought a 256mb ATI radeon 9250 ($100 at that time - probably a lot less now) about 2 years ago, i didn't know which slot I had. Either PCI or AGP, i bought the AGP and it didn't fit, so I exchanged it for the PCI, installed and fits perfectly. Therefore, I'm pretty sure that a 128mb card would work. I still get lag here and there and i can't watch HD videos. I'm a gamer, so my conclusion for my standard is to upgrade to the 512mb Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT, which might set u back $290-$300. (8500-8600 are pretty good too)

I think I need a display card for my Presario V5000WM laptop. I think this because it makes 2 long beeps, 4 short beeps, & then 2 long beeps. Is this correct?

Video card upgrade compatibility for compaq presario sr1900 nx with windows 7 sp1 installed

All the information for your computers motherboard can be found here:

The motherboard has a x16 PCI Express Video Card slot , so you should be able to put any PCI Express Video Card into this system. I would however refrain from putting something extremely powerful in there as you will encounter issues with the weak power supply in the system (Unless you upgrade the power supply too)

All modern video cards are PCI Express :)

Video upgrade

it depends upon your mb. some mb can support pci and agp . some of them support pci and pci-ex . so if your mb has agp or pci-ex slot than you have to buy a video card according to that. video cards range from 128mb to 1024 mb. you have to check your motherboard specification which card it can support. also it depends upon the power supply unit. need at least 300 watts for 128 mb - 256 mb card.

ATI AGP card and Compaq Presario S3100NX with open AGP Slot

This particular model of the system is basic home use system not built for games.
You can put in either a PCI graphics card or an AGP 4x graphics card that should not take more than 1.5v of power.
The max you can put is 128 MB , you can try the 256 MB, but i would suggest against it .

Thanks for using fIxya

Hardware upgrade required for autocad 2009

Your existing CPU will not work with that motherboard. The AM2+/AM2 processor slot is for AMD processors only. For this motherboard, you will need one of the following processors: Phenom FX / Phenom / Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64 X2

My son has my old computer and it needs a video card

Your information is slightly conflicting. Pentium is a type of processor, and AMD is another brand, your computer can't contain both types of processor. Your video card will either be AGP or PCI-e, depending on the model of the computer. If you'd like to leave me the model of the PC, I'll look it up for you.
