BR550 Blower No Compression

My BR550 Stihl blower has lost most of its compression, I think the rings are bad. I have been trying to take it apart to investigate, but I CANNOT get the blower wheel off. I've tried an impact, heating, and plain manual force, no luck. Has anyone dealt with this before? Am I missing something?

You can rent and use a wheel puller providing that your blower is strong enough not to bend, crack or break under the stress. OR...have a friend help by them or you holding the whole unit up by the blower fan itself and then your friend or you can hit on the blower shaft with a "dead blow" (heavy rubber hammer) type hammer so as to not damage the end of the shaft. If you do not have this type of hammer use a sturdy block of wood against the shaft and hit on the wood with a regular hammer. Blower fan should then pop off. For renting a wheel puller...look in the yellow pages of your phone book under Eguipment Rental or Rental stores.

Where is the serial number located on a stihl leaf blower BR550

When the paper bar code sticker is worn off, you can remove the engine shrouding (orange) and it will be located on top fin of the cylinder just before the spark plug hole.

What is the compression on a poulan bvm200FE blower

It has lost compression, I just repaired two that were doing the same thing, Installed a new piston ring in both and they fired up and ran great on the second pull. Also check to be sure the bolts haven't backed out that hold the cylinder jug on to the block, this will cause it to lose compression and not start or run either. A new ring costs $2.00 and can be installed in less than an hour.

I too have only had the blower for a couple of years and it stopped while it was running and made a different noise before stopping. I pulled the plug and I can feel compression but there is little or no...

Pretty sure it has seized at some time and has now scuffed the rings into the piston, it will have to come apart to see how bad it is.
