Question about Garden
My BR550 Stihl blower has lost most of its compression, I think the rings are bad. I have been trying to take it apart to investigate, but I CANNOT get the blower wheel off. I've tried an impact, heating, and plain manual force, no luck. Has anyone dealt with this before? Am I missing something?
You can rent and use a wheel puller providing that your blower is strong enough not to bend, crack or break under the stress. OR...have a friend help by them or you holding the whole unit up by the blower fan itself and then your friend or you can hit on the blower shaft with a "dead blow" (heavy rubber hammer) type hammer so as to not damage the end of the shaft. If you do not have this type of hammer use a sturdy block of wood against the shaft and hit on the wood with a regular hammer. Blower fan should then pop off. For renting a wheel puller...look in the yellow pages of your phone book under Eguipment Rental or Rental stores.
