Question about Philips Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a phillips 'matchline' TV SMG3.2E AA It started making loud cracking noises and the picture kept cutting in and out. Then one big crack and no picture. Red light is flashing. Is there any hope for this set with 'past' excellent' picture quality - or has it expired.!

If you heard loud cracking noise, and picture shrinking before the fault, then it is probably the flyback converter. Now the TV will not start because it is in protect mode. This will happen when a fault is detected. The flyback converter can be fixed by any local repairman. The PSU must also be checked.
