It happen to me once with a sony camcorder I used to own , you need to reach the VIDEO DRUM HEAD , with a Qtip moistened in a video head cleaner , go directly to the tiny slots and gently rub to remove excesive oxide acumulated that a tape cleaner cant reach, wait a couple minutes so the video head can dry before playing a tape , good luck AJ

Mini DV Tapes are not playing back. Nothing but blue screen when I try to view tape...no time code...nothing. Recently recorded footage plays back fine though?????

If recently recorded plays back ok, and there's no warning about low rf or head clogging problems,it seems to be electronic problem in vtr board, but usually is head problem, which is not so expensive.

Camera won't playback or record poss damaged heads

I think your problem is in the analog to digital converters. They seem to not be working, It is probably cheaper to buy a new camera rather than fixing yours.

Blue lines in play mode

This is not a problem with the tape but the camera. The only way to fix it seems to be to find an empty spot on the tape or a spot you don’t care if you record over. Then record for a second then go to video mode and you can play the tape without the blue lines. Or buy something else to play the tapes which should be fine either way. Darn camera !
