Only 4 things control defrosting . 1) main board control ....2) arced defrost bimetal....3) #4 thermistor (located on top of the evaporator)...4) #5 thermistor (licated by the drain at bottom of freezer) .

Have you checked the light switch. It is common for the light switch to also keep the icemaker from driving the ice through the door. It shouldn't keep the icemaker from making ice though. It could be the icemaker being bad or the water valve being bad.

GE FRENCH DOOR REFRIGERATOR DOES NOT MAKE ICE

First thing to check is if the freezer temperature is going down low enough for the ice maker to work - around 10 degrees. The icemaker thermostat will not activate the mechanism (cam motor) unless this requirement is met.

Icemaker is slow in producing ice

If your icemaker is producing ice, but it is slow, there are 2 likely explanations.
1. Temperature. Water freezes at 32 deg, but the icemaker won't eject the ice until it gets below 10 degrees. If you always had good ice output and all of a sudden it has slowed down, you're temperature is a little higher than ideal. Check for a door seal not making good contact or try dropping the temp in the FREEZER side a couple degrees
2. New model. Most new refrigerators make ice much slower than older models to meet energy efficiency guidelines. This is not a repairable issue.

No water to icemaker!

i see no make and model # for your unit for i would check the internet for service manual, if the unit works when you power the solenoid manually than there is a censor or driver output transistor to the solenoid is defective and you will require a manual to service this problem, this problem location is on the control board or censor input to the board

All water underneath.ice in the bottom.freezer working.not making

If I understand you correctly your water line that comes through the back wall of the freezer and into the icemaker is frozen. If so you have a bad water valve. When the valve goes bad it will not seal off the water. It will seep causing a slow drip where the water comes out at you icemaker. It'd slow enough to freez causing a ice blockage. This will not allow water to come through and fill your icemaker when it calls for water.

Ice dispenser

I bought the PSS26MSWSS model (GE Profile) in August 2007. I have had numerous problems with the icemaker. It was out of warranty for the last two visits (Oct 2008) but GE warranteed anyway because of the previous problems I had had with the icemaker.

The last time the repairman came out I asked him if this latest part would "fix" the problem. He said it would help it but not fix it because there was a design flaw with the back/rear dispensing icemakers. I paid around $2,000 for this frig. I called Lowe's and told them of the problem and they said they would replace the refrigator for one of equal value.

Other than the problems with the icemaker I thought this was a very nice refrigator. However, I don't think I will buy another GE. If they knew there was a design flaw they shouldn't have sold these refrigators or had a recall when they became aware of it.

Icemaker Locks/Freezes up

Paul, There has been an issue with these models concerning this freezing up in the freezer side. I was on a service call yesterday, same model. GE sent a letter out to this customer along with two new door kits, really they were complete doors that I had to install. If I were you I would call GE's 800 number and inquire about this problem. Your refrigerator might be covered. Hope this helps. Catriver...post back.
