Question about Olympus Stylus 850SW Digital Camera

I have the same problem

Camera turns on, but I don't have an LCD image. Snorkling in Hawaii. Worked great all week. Rinsed every time after getting out of the salt water. No signs of water leakage/damage. Any solutions? Is there some sort of reset button for the screen? Do I need to update firmware? Help!

I was having problems, have had it for 11 months, same thing bought it for Hawaii. Tonight I submersed it in a bowl of water, then rinsed it under the tap, gently on the lense while turning it off and on and it worked!!! I was freakin thrilled. Try it!

Rinsing the camera of was a big mistake. You may not of noticed the water damage that could be in the inside on the ourside. You will more than likely have to replace it.

My camera won't turn on either....

Either the lens is out of alignment, or the CCD or worse has gone defective. Either way it sounds like it may be worth it to just purchase a new camera. You do always have the option of repair as well.
Thanks,
Lee

Canon XSi not powering up

if it has a view finder make sure in the settings that the image is set to show up on the LCD screen also make sure the batteries have a FULL charge which means at least 8 hours of uninterrupted charging before use.

My guess is that with most nice digi cams it is set to not show the image in the LCD viewfinder but rather the actual real time with your eye view finder. look around the menu if you can and see what you can change as far as view finding and if i didn't help please specify the problem a little more and i will be glad to do whatever i can to help.

LCD SCREEN

LCD = Lousy Camera Device? Get used to using the optical viewfinder. The LCD is great for reviewing images after you've taken them, but it leaves a lot to be desired as a viewfinder. Keeping your camera steady is no small feat at the best of times, but being forced to hold the camera away from your body to view an image through the LCD adds a new level of instability to the picture-taking process.

LCD Dispaly malfunction

The screen has two components. The LCD, and the backlight. You can buy broken cameras relatively cheaply on ebay (or if you have it, craigslist). Do that, and you might be able to replace the screen.

Will not download to my PC

Close the camera using the 'Off' button. Dissconnect it from the computer. When the camera is turned off, connect it back to the computer, wait for the computer to respond and then you'll have the pictures available. Remember - the camera should be turned off.

Viewing is fine, taking pictures is not

This sounds like what started happening with my camera a few weeks ago. I found that turning the LCD screen off during picture-taking allows me to take pictures. I then have to go into review mode to look at the pictures I took using the LCD screen. Definitely not a great fix. I'm trying to locate a firmware upgrade that may solve it.
