Re: internal battery

Are you asking about the CMOS battery, or something else?

What does the internal 601 Battery do, and how to replace it

Do you use your power off the mains at all (not plugged in) It will be the main battery for the laptop.

If you always leave your laptop plugged in there isn't much point in getting a new battery. Perhaps you can turn off the error message on startup?

Plugged in, not charging

First, try another charger. Perhaps your charger isn't providing enough volts to the laptop

Unable to save date & time in lenovo g560 laptop

Sounds like your bios battery is on its last leg. The battery saves both the date and time... kind of like an "internal clock" if you will.

My laptop isnt powering on. a friend replaced the power plug inside, and now there is no power. Also what does the jumper/connector j4402 near the cmos battery connect to?

hi generally most new laptop have a internal shut off if there is some kind of power surge, here is the solution to try it works on most laptops these days but dosnt get documented enough

1 Removed the battery and power cord from the laptop
2 Press and hold the power button on the laptop for 30-60 seconds ( the longer the better)
3 Connect the powercord to the laptop but leave the battery out
4 Try and power on your laptop - if it turns on you are good to go just reinsert you battery and repeat if it happens again

Will not charge the battery or input any power. The battery is fine. I think its a loose connection internally where the power adaptor/charger plugs in. need a manual to show how to dissasemble and replace...

Here's a direct link to the service manual for this laptop:

Based on my experience troubleshooting such kinds of problems, you will need to get the motherboard out of the case to be able to replace or tighten the power connector.

Where is located the internal battery on ACER 5101

You don't want to know! On the 5000 series it is just above the hard drive connector. Remove the memory/wireless card cover and look inside the case past the SIS chip and you will see it. I dare you to try changing it without a full breakdown - if you drop it inside the case you could short something out. There might be some kind of special tweezer for this but they are not really meant to be replaced - if the main battery has any kind of charge this battery will last 10 yrs. which is assumed to be the life of the laptop.

Internal power unit 'short'.

Ok its not the power supply, it the battery in the laptop which is defective. Remove the laptops battery and power on using AC power only, the PC should now boot and your problem will be solved (apart from the battery)

post back to let me know how you get on
