Question about Sony Video Game Consoles & Games
I just purchased a used ps3 and found out that it is stuck in demonstration mode 2.80. i found out about the code to unlock it temporarily but want to know if/how i can change to the standard ps3 firmware permanently. i tried to download the ps3 latest update onto a flash drive- did the whole creating the 2 folders, all in caps-but the ps3 said that there was no applicable update on it. So I was wondering if someone could help me come to a solution about it, so i don't have to enter the code every time i want to do something. Thanks!
Visit the Playstation3 website and download the lastest version onto a flash drive. Making sure you dont have any other software/files on the flash drive.
Create a folder on the flash drive in which to save the update data.
Using a PC, create a folder named “PS3” on the flash drive or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named “UPDATE”.
Install the playstation update into that folder. "PS3UPDAT.PUP"
Your console SHOULD now reconise the update.
If nothing changes restore the playstation fully to its default status.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
