If you can still see the color bands around the resistor the you can go to this site and get the value by inputting the colors.

You have to get a schematic drawing to get the value, however if it's burnt up then there is some other reason for this failure. Just replacing the resistor won't fix the problem for very long.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
goodluck!

### Values of the resistors

Resistors R1, R2, R3, and R4 are arranged in a circuit as shown in the figure above. The direction of positive currents I1, I2, I3, and I4 through the resistors are shown. (i.e., negative current values correspond to currents in the opposite direction to that shown above). The values for the resistors and the batteries in the circuit are: R1 = 100 ?, R2 = 200 ?, R3 = 30 ?, R4 = 400 ?, V1 = 4 V, and V2 = 12 V.

### My GE timer, model 15132 has stopped working. I can see that resistor R2 on the circuit board has fried (it's black). Anyone know the value of this resistor?

Usually if you look close, several parts have burn or blackened area at point of solder.
This indicates that multiple parts are affected... replace timer.
Otherwise, there is no schematic for these types of digital timers that shows the value of parts.
Following resources have images of similar problem, and similar timers.

### Blown resistors

Both resistors are: 1/4w 100 ohm with 5% tolerance (brown, black, brown & gold colors). Best to use the "Metal Film" type because they're more durable than the "Carbon Film" type.

### Honeywell s4582d has the big brown resistor labelled as r2 being open circuit, the colour banding is that poor cant make out its value, anyone have any idea?

If it put out enough heat to fail, and the legs are a larger diameter... it gives clues to the size and watts of the original. You can wildly guess and do a better job than having the water heater not work at all. Perhaps try a 100 ohm if it has trouble working try a 10 ohm

### What is the value of the large resistor on a KW14-VO board

I overheated my current limiter too, so the colored bands are unreadable. But I measured it at 6.2 ohms. The wattage on this resistor is not really high enough for the job, so they get very hot. I replaced mine with a 10W resistor (too big for board mounting) attached to the board with 22 ga. wires. I clipped a heatsink around the resistor and stuffed it into the empty space at the back of the housing. Hopt this helps.

### I got this one dead. There is a burnt resistor on the main circuit board ( the one with the on/off sw). Would anyone know what value it could be.

Hello,
You can determine the resistors value by reading the color code bands that are marked on it. The following picture is an example of the color codes and there values.

To show you how to read the color codes on a resistor, I am including a link to a video that will explain how to do this easier than I could probably explain it.

I hope this helps you in solving the problem. If you need further assistance please feel free to ask.

If you would not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You

### Soldering iron tips

It is very tempting to start soldering components onto the circuit board straight away, but please take time to identify all the parts first. You are much less likely to make a mistake if you do this! 1. Components stuck onto paper Stick all the components onto a sheet of paper using sticky tape. 2. Identify each component and write its name or value beside it. 3. Add the code (R1, R2, C1 etc.) if necessary. Many projects from books and magazines label the components with codes (R1, R2, C1, D1 etc.) and you should use the project's parts list to find these codes if they are given. 4. Resistor values can be found using the resistor colour code which is explained on our Resistors page. You can print out and make your own Resistor Colour Code Calculator to help you. 5. Capacitor values can be difficult to find because there are many types with different labelling systems! The various systems are explained on our Capacitors page.
