Re: Can not connect to wirless Dell 1525
Check the IP address of another PC to copy its IP address then make your own IP address with Gateway & DNS Address... on your wireless LAN. If not you should detect first your wireless Lan to your Router to identify the Network Address is correct.

Dell Inspiron 1525: Unable to Connect Wireless Network
setting up the right option for wireless network connection at Dell 1525. Here's the following:
Go to Control panel
Select Windows Security Center
Select Windows Firewall
Click on Change settings
Here you might see User Account Control will ask for your permission to continue, simply grant it.
Click on the Exception tab at the middle
Scroll down to Wireless Portable Devices and check the box next
Click Apply, then hit OK
After close the program now you can try to connect again and watch the result.
With assumption you're already make the wireless enable in BIOS setting.
In the device manager you should see what the type of wireless wlan
card you used and make sure it's already turned on via your switch on
your laptop. If it was, then you need to find out the right wireless
device driver for Dell Inspiron 1525. Here's the following:
Visit Dell Support site and open the Network tab in the table.
Find your wireless device and download the driver for it.
Aim to a folder on your computer or any external drive if you have it.
At the Inspiron 1525 laptop
go to start
Right click at My Computer
Click Device Manager and Network Adapter .Here you should see a WLAN Mini-Card or might you only see "Unknown Device".
Right Click on it and go to properties to select the Update Driver. Now
you should browse the folder to select the driver you're already
download at the first step.
Just follow the instruction appears completely. After installation the
wireless wlan driver at Dell Inspiron 1525 finish, then reboot the
machine and know your wireless connection should be works properly.
The same way you disabled it, there should be an icon on your taskbar for enabled and disabled the WLAN switch. If there isnt you need to go to control panel and go to networks, enable wirless router, search for networks etc. If that does work then you have to go into control panel, change wireless settings or change internet settings and find it that way.
Verify that you have the correct type of authentication in wireless- if your router is set to WPA2, then you would have to go under the connection properties > security tab to change it to match that setup. If that does not work, then the issue may be that the wireless card is defective and starting to fail.
There are 2 ways of which you can enable the wifi on your dell inspiron 1525:
1) Make sure the wifi catcher on the side is set to the "on" position, this can be achieved by sliding the little switch, so the line in the middle of the switch is aligned with the ' (a line) sign.
2) The next thing that you need to do is ensure that the wifi is enabled you can enable wifi by pressing "FN" (the key on the keyboard) and F2. N.B. This will only work if you have Dell quickset installed. An alternative way of doing this is by going to start > control panel > network connections, find the wifi adapter > right click > enable.
Hope this has helped slightly, add more info if it hasn't
Thanks for reading and good luck with your problem. Good day
This generally indicates a lack of connectivity with your network or internet service provider's network, whether it's wired or wireless. Check to make sure you have an established connection to your internet service provider. Knowing what operating system and your connection status would help to assist you further.
If your wireless router is configured with SSID, encryption, MAC address filtering (if enabled) etc. then the Dell wireless card needs to be configured with these settings to allow it to communicate with the wireless router.
Check the settings on your PC's wireless settings, and configure the Dell the same way.
Go to http://support.dell.com and under the drivers and downloads section, enter your Service Tag, and download and install the latest Wireless Card driver for your model. Update to latest BIOS version as well.
if you are using the dell wireless utility to manage your card, then disable it, and manage your wireless adapter through the windows network connections. that way the wpa issue will be solved by windows xp wpa. i had a similar problem with my inspiron 1525 (dell wireless 1395)
