Clunking noise every 5 seconds

While compressor is running it makes a clunk noise every 5 seconds, maybe sounds like dropping a pair of shoes on the floor (not metal on metal, but maybe rubber on metal)

You should check the compressor compartment and see if the fan motor (if it has one) is hitting something. Possibly a dead mouse?( I have seen this before) Also check if compressor mounts are secure. Hope this helps.

Aveo noise when turning and breaking

sounds like axle shafts.. when they did the ball joints they probably let the lower control arms drop, they should have been supported.. which probably stressed out the shafts

i dont know if i would go to that same mechanic, maybe ask a few friends who they use and trust.. its such a 'rookie' mistake (if it turns out to be the shafts) that my guess would be that they were just thinking of job security.. just more work for them

good luck!

We have an 11 year old fisher-paykel fridge .For past 6 months several times a day it makes a loud knocking noise

If this noise happens when the compressor turns on and shuts off it is called a compressor knock. All the internal workings of the compressor are supported by springs, over time the springs wear out and become weak. When the compressor stops or starts the tourq causes the internal parts to hit aginst the casing of the compressor. Sounds like a clunk clunk clunk noise. If you can deal with the noise do not go out and replace the compressor cause it will work just fine like that.

2003 Honda CR-V when the A/c compressor kicks on the engine drops 300 rpm, like it's going to stall. It's making a clunk noise when kicking on and I changed the battery thinking it was weak.

sounds like it's the iacv or idle air control valve not working due to dirt in the orifice or the iacv is burnt out and cannot turn correctly, or the wiring to it is faulty.

Good luck on the repair.

If the A/C compressor makes a clunk noise when kicking on, that could indicate a worn out compressor.

You're right, 300 rpm is way too low. It should be closer to 600 or 700 or 800 rpm and remain smooth when the a/c compressor kicks on.

My Kenmore refrigerator is making a loud noise when running and when it shuts off it makes a loud clunking noise. Also, it is running about every 10 minutes. The refrigerator is 7 years old.

it sounds like the compressor insides are loose and you will be needing a new compressor, but just check and make sure the rubber mounting feet on the outer compressor base where its mounted to the refrigerator base are all tight and the rubber shocks are all good

Refrigerator makes fairly loud noises of a clunking kind but runs and stays cold.

Clunking noises usually comes from the rapid stop of the compressor. It will not hurt a thing. The rubber grommets which the compressor sit on for cushioning, have most likely hardened and are transferring the noise to the frame or casing. The compressor runs at 3600 rpm's and when you tell it to stop on a dime, it can't. The result is a couple of clunks or so. Also check the drip pan for improper positioning. I have seen them make noise also.
