Hello williamhowar:

>>As I am Sure you are Aware, Most Backhoes do a Lot of Bouncing and Jarring. LOL.
>>If you can Trace the Harness, then Check of a Bare Wire that is May be Touching the Unit.
>>If the Harness is Good, then I will Require some More Information about this Unit in Order to Assist you Further.
>>Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you.

SOURCE: John Deere LT 133. Will not move with mower in gear and clutch/brake released. A smell like hot rubber prior. Mower will engage. Thanks.

It could be that the belt jumped off the pulleys and got caught between a pulley and a belt guide,or the trans-axel seized up ,or brake was stuck while in a high gear, and burned up the belt. most likely the first reason. if it wasn't for the burning rubber smell,I would also look for a broken clutch/brake return spring .The pedal would stay down with a broken spring

SOURCE: I have a John Deere

Look under your seat and see if you have the grey cloth holding a metal plate that trips your seat switch. If so contact your John Deere dealer because this setup has been a major problem for a while. For testing purposes only I would jump your seat switch and see if that points you in the right direction, remember that using youre machine with any saftey device tripped/jumped is a hazard.

SOURCE: john deere sabre wont continur

There is a switch in the seat to make sure the mower automatically stops if the brake is released and nobody is in the seat.

It appears that your safety switch (in the seat) is not activating. You can either replace the seat (about $40) or permanently connect the two wires comming out from under the seat (probably encased in a black plastic conduit). You can connect them for a test but you should fix it so you don't disable the seat safety (it could be dangerous).

It will not be a problem if it is permanently connected, it will not draw current from the battery, it is just a sensor running when the mower is turned on.

Good luck, I hope it works.

Cannot engage parking brake on John Deere L108 mower. Clutch and foot brake work fine. Cannot lift orange lever to set. What can I do? Thanks

If new to the unit...

To set parking brake, you FULLY depress and hold the brake/clutch pedal, engage and hold park brake lock, release brake/clutch pedal. You may need to adjust seat forward.

Else...
If the brake lock won't move when brake/clutch is fully depressed, check for obstruction in brake lock linkage.

I have a john Deere 310sg backhoe that is showing a f-428 service code and also have an issue with the park brakes continuesly setting is this a simple fix. The computer was recently replaced

f-428 means the foot throttle pedal sensor is not calbrated
the software that's in the computer , this makes sense since u replaced the computer recently , to fix this its gonna require the JD tuning tool interface and software 4 it

I suspect the park brakes issue is sort of coming from a similar conflict in sensors on the transaxle or something

gone is the days that a new computer would self adjust its self when 1st installed , in fact if you read your owners book JD requires a yearly software update now

Park Brake circuit light on 310sj backhoe error light

Check the wire that installs into the sending unit from the origin (source). It could be pulled loose. If ok, there is a button type switch that disengages after the brake is released, this button switch could be faulty or otherwise dysfunctional.

Brake pedal won't release on a John Deere 316 lawn tractor

I have the same problem. I just wiggle the black handle on the parking brake release. It usually allows the pedal to come back up. One of these days I'll see what hanging up in the linkage.

The parking brake on my John Deere L118 is stuck in the activated position. Therefore the tractor won't roll. How can I disengage the parking brake?

Usually there is a red handle under the steering colunm that locks the pedal down. You will need to depress the brake as you push down on the red handle which should release it.
