Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers
It may be a heat issue. It may not be heating up properly and that will cause it to not start. You may need to reset your panel. It depends on what dishwasher you have, but on the internet, type in your dishwasher number and the word reset. There should be something out there to let you know what buttons you push to reset it. For instance some Whirlpools are hit the Heated Dry button, then the Normal, then Heated Dry button again then Normal button again - push in a sequence and that will start diagnostics and reset the machine. Other Whirlpools are similiar, just find it on the internet. That should reset it, but you still have to find out why it did that. Make sure you turn on the hot water faucet in your sink and get the water as hot as you can before you start your dishwasher. Improper heating can cause it.
