Asus P5B -E Plus motherboard Beeping during bootup (Repost)

I refer to the problem I posted yesterday:

"Using an Asus P5B -E Plus motherboard for 2 years now with no problems. But when I boot up my computer now i get 1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps and no display on my monitor. I have to reset the CPU to get the same series of beeps, but then I will get the display back and the computer will boot up normally. However, it seems I can no longer run the game I play properly, World of Warcraft. I get stuttering, cracking sounds and very bad frame lag when I try to tab out of the game. I am unable to pinpoint the problem I have presently and need assistance. If possible please explain step by step as I do not have alot of experience or knowledge on troubleshooting my CPU."

I have since reseated my graphics card twice to no avail. I still get the same beeping from my motherboard when I boot up. However, I noticed that this problem only seems to affect the game World of Warcraft. When I run Half-life 2 or Left 4 Dead for example, they run smoothly like before. I'm at my wits end here and need further advice.

Thank you.

If you are hearing the code right. 1 then 3 you can have a cpu bad or bad memory, remove memory or find (borow) new. try that, also try a new battery Time error. Then start from scratch - take everything loose from the board nothing but the board, one stick of memory, no hard drive, no video card, if you get the same code your cpu is going. If you get different code try the video card if you get the old code thats the problem. Clear as mud? Yep clear as mud.

Thanks for using FixYa!

Its possible that the problem that you have right now has something to do with your memory modules. If you have several memory modules. try to take them all out then add them back one by one. this process will isolate any bad memory module. Also, after you take out your memory modules try to clean the gold contact points with pencil eraser. This will take out that static build up from your memory modules.

I hope this helps. I hope you get to play WoW now.. i know the feeling of not being able to play my toon. Have a nice day.

this beep code is described from ASUS as a video card issue. Perhaps your chipset is failing. if you are using a 3rd party video card. try removing it or re attaching it. If you are not using a 3rd party. i suggest you do. and disable the onboard in the bios.

2 Sata Hdd not supported

Hi rafiqbrush, let me go over a few things for the P5B MB.
There is a total of 5 serial ATA SATA drive ports on the board & one ATA IDE/PATA port.
The 4 main SATA ports are numbered, 1 - 4. Your primary SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 1. Your second SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 3. See page 2-26 in your manual.
All SATA drives are seen as master drives. Once the two SATA drives are connected (As per manual), boot to the bios main menu.
At the main bios menu make sure your bios shows both SATA drives. Than go to the bios title "Boot". Make sure your primary SATA drive 1 is listed in the boot order. Save & exit the bios. (SATA drive 1 must have windows installed on it).
Link to Asus P5B web site;

Good luck rafiqbrush!
Thank you for using fixya.

The problem - I guess - is that this CPU is not recognised correctly by the board. To solve it, just update to the latest BIOS, using either AsusUpdate or manually from

The problem is of the display side so if possible connect the pci
display card or can repaire the mother board, If not then only solution is to change the mother board.
