Old electronics had a true power switch that turned the electricity off. New electronics have what is called a soft power switch which means that the device is powered down to a very low low state and when the power button is pressed it sends a signal to a circuit that allows full power up. Well when the symptom you report shows up it is because the soft power circuit has gone bad. Sorry but it will require repair by an experienced technician to fix. Good Luck

Olevia television won't turn on unless you unplug the power cord from the back and plug is back in

One of the buttons has flattened out try the remote first and see if it will pop up, if so replace remote. Then try the one on the TV itself which is more likely...that one will require a new PC board with the buttons on it.

Tv problem help

With the plug from the t.V. unplugged from the wall outlet, remove the tv cover. Follow the power cord to the power supply's printed circuit board. Look to see if there are any damaged, bulging or burnt out (exploded) capacitors. If there are, that's the source of the problem.

Be fore warned, even though the power cord to the tv has been disconnected from the wall outlet, good capacitors still hold (store) hi-voltages that can shock & even kill you; so don't touch them unless you know how to properly discharge a capacitor. Don't underestimate the power that these components store even though they are very small.

My 32inch lcd tv keeps flickering it started all the sudden

TRY THIS

    • 1 Turn the TV off with the front-mounted power button, not the remote. Unplug the TV's power cord from the wall outlet. Let an hour pass before plugging the cord back into the wall outlet. Turn the TV back on with the front-mounted power button and wait until it has fully restarted. Bring up a TV channel to see if the image being presented on the LCD screen is no longer flickering. A momentary power surge can cause the circuitry inside the LG-brand LCD TV to function erratically.
    • 2 Unplug the video cable from the video connection on the back or side panel of the LG TV. If more than one video cable is connected to the TV, disconnect all of them. Disconnect the other end of the video cable from the video source device that it's attached to -- a DVD or Blu-ray player, or a satellite receiver or cable box. Blow off the connections on the video source device and on the back or side panel of the TV with bursts of compressed air. Reinsert one end of the video cable into the video source device and the other end into the video input that it was connected to. Turn the TV back on with is remote to see if the picture is now free of flickering. A loose or partially connected video cable can cause the LCD TV's screen to flicker when presenting an image.
    • 3 Turn the TV off and unplug its power cord from the wall outlet. Place a power conditioner next to the wall outlet. Plug the power conditioner's power cord into the wall outlet. Plug the TV's power cord into one of the AC sockets on the power conditioner. Turn the power conditioner on. Turn the TV on to see if the picture is now free of flickering. The RF signals in the electric line that the LG TV is drawing power from can cause flicking through interference patterns being generated.

My Lexmark x9350 only turns on and off if I plug and unplug...

This, probably, is a power issue on the printer. Unplug the printer from the computer. Unplug the power supply from the printer (it's the black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached). Try not to use any power strips or extensions for the power cord. If possible, plug the power cord straight to the wall outlet. With the power cord plugged in straight to the power outlet, plug the power supply back in the printer. That should refresh the printer. When everything's powered on, plug printer to computer. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

TH-42PD50U 42" plasma from Panasonic. The TV tipped over and won't turn back on. The red power light just keeps flashing on and off.

Try to unplug and replug the power cord. If TV remains unchanged you need to call for service. The power supply board was defective. In worse case, the Y and buffers are defective, too. There are many steps needed to figure out the exact defective board. You need help from TV repairer unless you want DIY.

TV won't turn back on after power cord was disconnected from unit

If power cord was jerked out of the outlet or set, make sure it wasn't damaged. If it was unplugged violently, the circuit board inside the set could be damaged. Also make sure the outlet that it is plugged into is not damaged or a switched outlet.
