I bought budgies from different pet shops and discovered that several keep crawling across the front wire of the cage. The question is will they settle down in the breeding size cage.

Mine did when I added branch like perches. Otherwise they did the cage climb along the front. I think the long perches didn’t fit their feet.

SOURCE: What size cage should I buy for my budgies?

Even though budgies are quite small, they are very active and need space to fly around and exercise. Budgies need a minimum cage size of 18"x18"x24". Here is a sizing chart that should answer any questions regarding bird species and cage size, along with particular suggested brands of cages to buy.

What should I know before getting a budgie?

A pet bird is a lot of commitment. Just because it's smaller than traditional pets like dogs and cat doesn't mean it's any easier to take care of. Before you get your heart set on buying a budgie, I'd recommend learning more about them on https://www.birdcagesnow.com/blogs/bird-blog/pros-and-cons-of-owning-a-parakeet. That's what I did when I was looking into parakeets as pets. Here's what I learned.

Firstly, budgies don't talk like larger species of parrots do, so if you're thinking about getting a bird in the hope that it will mimic your words, it's best to go with a big species like the African Grey.

Secondly, they need to be exercised regularly to keep them healthy (and sane); you can't just leave them in a cage out of sight and out of mind. You need to let them out as often as possible.

Finally, they only live around 8-12 years. Some species of parrots can live up to 50 years and even more, so they have comparatively much shorter lifespans.

I hope this helps!

Whats a good name for a pet bird

Depending upon the breed, Peep for a small bird that peeps a lot or Squawk for a large, noisy bird. But any name will do as long as it recognizes it as their name and respond to it.

When it comes to bird cages, why is size so important?

Cage size is a very crucial element in regards to proper bird care. The tail of your bird should never touch the back or bottom of the cage when sitting on their perch. A very general rule to follow is that the width of the cage should be at least 1-1/2 times as wide as your bird's wingspan. Keep in mind that it is not just your bird(s) inhabiting the cage but you will need a perch and most likely some toys. My personal recommendation is to buy the largest cage you can afford.

Can I buy a pet playpen that attaches to my rabbit cage, so that she can run around while I am cleaning it?
