1997 suburban 5.7 gas. dripping coolant from front of engin. only saw the drip coming from the crank pulley. so i replaced water pump still dripping. stops dripping when coolant reservoir is empty.

no thermostat is good that old./ ever.
and the hose does not get water coolant from thermostat until the engine is hot and thermostat is opens( begin to open)
you forgot to burp all air from the cooling loop.
you are doing all this wrong.
well the reservoir goes empty when you do it all wrong, get all air of the loop first. then fill reservoir 1/2full of 50a%AF (antifreeze)mix.
the thermosat not installed backwards and STAT bleed hole (jigglepin)
must be up hill. (so it can be burped)
once properly filled of coolant, any leaks are seen clear as day
hood up(not driven) and let engine warm fully up and like magic
all leaks are seen , if present. and from the exact spot , is what matters most. (you never said where, only below crank pulley)
sorry the crank is not water cooled. look again and look closer
let engine idle up to 30 min to find the leak.

other than hoses or water pump leaks.
here are all front engine leaks possible
yellow arrow

F= freeze/core plug, x2
up top is a leaking intake manifold gasket (common too)

1999 MERCURY VILLAGER BOGS WHEN GOING UP HILL WHEN ONLY 1/8TH TANK OF GAS FILLE IT UP AND THEN STILL BOGGED FOR ABOUT A MILE THEN QUIT BOGGING WHAT CAUSED THIS

when a tank is empty there is no fuel for the pump and the system runs low on fuel pressure Going up hill the fuel runs away from the pick up line and the pump sucks air
After filling it takes a while to empty the air out of the system to allow full pressure again. It is an extremely costly practice to run so low on fuel as it may lead to a pump replacement

How do i check fluid for convertable top

"How do I get the air out of my hydraulic system"?
  • Remove the reservoir plug on the motor pump. Leave the plug out and do not put back until you have finished.
  • Fill the reservoir 3/4 full with fluid (to the bottom of filler plug hole). Put a rag under the hole to catch overflow that will occur as system fills.
  • Run the pump for 15-20 seconds. Stop. Check your fluid level and refill to bottom of filler hole. Continue running the motor in the same direction for an additional 15-20 seconds. When the top gets to the end of cycle, check your fluid level, fill to bottom of filler hole, and run the motor in the opposite direction.
  • You are literally running the top all the way up and down sereral times. Checking the fluid level as you go and fill as required, leaving reservoir 25% empty.
  • When you are no longer able to add fluid, put the top in the down position. Check the fluid level one last time, should be to bottom of filler hole. Put the plug into reservoir.

01 focus,2.0 DOHC ZT,Crapping out under acceleration or under load on hills,Changed fuel pump,Checked for vaccuum leaks,No codes no light,I have a streaming reader and everthing appears to read right.I am...

Under a load or uphill, would suggest that a high vacuum signal was involved. So think EGR Valve. I know you got no codes. This is an exercise in logic.
A misfire will present it'self going up hill or loading the engine. e.g. hard on the gas
What has no sensor or won't set a code easily. Vacuum leaks, air filter, all air intake ducting,MAF Sensor,Throttle Position Sensor and don't forget those really small EVAP Leaks, most people never heard of.
    Is the converter partially blocked?
    O2 Sensors switching properly?
Fuel pressure, under a load? New fuel filter?

Just bought an 86 vette don't know how to get the top out. It appears to be removeable, but how.

look under the sun visers youll see a hole there on each side.there is a star head bolt in the hole, loosen them then the 2 behind your head, the bolts in the front are the same size.then your top should lift off.

My yukon rear ac i think! got my rear rear carpet all wet im thinking ac drain plug but dont really know how it works any ideas thanks ronn

The A Pillar is filling up with water and running out the hole where the front kick panel attaches. I took me 6 months to find this and a snake camera from Harbor Freight. The water runs down under the sill and soaks the front and back carpets. Seal the door hinges and the door grommet where the wires go from the pillar to the door with silicone black. Pull out the grommet and seal around it well. I also drilled a drain hole into that cavity just under that pillar but behind the front of the door bottom corner so it cant be seen with the door closed. No more problems!!!

A smell like burning wires when l go up a hill

hello drk...the only time you smell this is when the engine is under a load? Does is seem to be coming from the a/c vents? Any smoke? I've never heard this complaint on the 2005 6.0 powerstroke. A strong coolant or sulphur smell is what most owners report. Could you give a little more detail please?

When it rains water in in the rear sloshing

The 1997 Sebring convertible has rocker panels (the metal that goes from front to back wheel well and directly under the doors) that have five drain channels each.  The sloshing noise occurs when the drain holes plug up and a rocker panel fills up with water.  Often, the water will then leak into the right rear footwell, soaking the carpet.  A quick fix is to locate the drain holes and run a flat (unused) twistem-tie (they come with your trash bags) through each hole several times.  Commonly, doing so will result in a deluge of water, along with spider web parts, leaf parts, and whatever else washed into the rocker panel fromo the rear window.

To find the drain holes, just 1) lie under the car with a flashlight, or 2) sit alongside the car with one of those mirrors that come on a telescoping stick.  Since I don't like to lie in dirty water, I use the mirror to guide my twistem-tie (or ice pick or spring wire or whatever) into each hole.  NOTE:  the drain holes are flat and run at a 30 degree angle from back to front on the right side and from front to back on the left side.
