Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I put a game in my ps3, and when it went in all of a sudden it started making a loud cha cha cha sound and when i pressed eject, i got the sound it makes when nothing is in it. Turned it off, when i turned it back on got the cha cha cha sound immediately, still wont eject PLEASE HELP!!! im freaking out!! has this ever happened to anyone before??!
I had the same symptoms. The reason to my problem was that my 2 year old has pushed *three* disks into the console. I got them out through the following, admittedly pretty weird, approach: I hit the eject button, while gently prodding with another disk into the slot (at a slight upward angle). I could feel the disks inside the console rotating or vibrating as I was *gently* touching them with the fourth disk and hitting eject repeatedly. Somehow, the gentle prodding made one of the disk come out a bit, so I could pull it out easily. (I was pretty surprised when a second disk came out, and then a third.)

Yes the paper-clip! Straightend a large paper clip, then with some needle-nose pliers created a tiny L-shaped hooked (about 3/16 or 1/8 of an inch). Inserted the hook side of the clip into the disc slot along the edge. Carefully moved the clip around until I located the hole in the disc, then gently pulled the disc out. Piece of cake, took about 2 minutes! Thanks for the great suggestion!

None of these solutions worked for me - instead, as a last resort, I turned the PS3 off at the back of the unit, and turned it back on holding the eject button down. It fired back up super loud, and ejected the DVD.

My 2 yr old niece jammed 3 cds in my ps3. i was scared to even touch my ps3. finally i went to take a look and i saw a cd slightly sticking out so i tried to pull it out and success. but then i saw another cd sticking out but this time it was imposible to pull it. partly i was scared to do it because of the sensetivity of the ps3. then i went here and saw that solution about holding the eject button for 20 secs. i did that and the cd slightly showing went insde when i tried to eject the cds it made that shuttering sounds repeatedly i got scared.....i tried pressing it again and again and finally the CDs came out. YES i said CDs, TWO CDS came out at the same time. that is a total of 3 cds in my ps3. woohoo finally it is fixed.

Once you get the PS3 cover off,
1.) remove the ribbon cable and connector
2.) turn the cd player over anbd remove 6 screws (4 in the corners and two on the board)
3.) disconnect 5 cables from board
4.) remove top metal cover and lay the cd player on it's bottom side
5.) remove 4 screws holding the bezel
6.) you should be able to lift the bezel and either grab your CD or like mine, it just poped out.

A friend of mine gave me his PS3 because he said it wouldn't work and his Call of Duty game disk was stuck inside it. Best Buy and Sony said they would not get the disk out for him. I used a black CD, turned on the console, and tried the hard eject (holding down the eject button hard for a long time). When this didn't I repeated the hard eject, and stuck the edge of the CD into the slot and oved it around, trying to catch it on the edge of the disk in there. Shortly after doing this, the Call of Duty game disk came out, shortly followed by the Robots movie disk, and another movie disk. I guess thats the drawback to the slot type drive...you can't tell if theres another one in there already!

The 20 second thing really works!!!!
In fact, I believe it has cured the "Stucky PS3 Syndrome" lol
Just keep holding down the eject button until it pops it out!! Works like a charm!! My PS3 wouldn't have trouble taking the discs, but giving them back? That was a problem. But, I held down the eject button for about 10 to 15 seconds and pop! It came out :)
Now, the disc is popping in and out without any problem. I HIGHLY suggst you give this a try before you start sticking things into the disc slot!! Another tip, moving your PS3 during performance is the usual cause of this "Stucky PS3 Syndrome"!!!!!! Thanks for the 20 second suggestion!!!! I'm no longer worried that it'll happen again!!! :) *Knock on wood*

My son had posted 4 CDs/DVDs in the drive. I used the paper clip to get them all out!

The paperclip trick worked for me, it took about 10 minutes of trying and really scratched up the disk (which of course is a rental).

YAY!! Thanks for all the suggestions!!! My 3 year old jammed a dvd in before the console was on. It made the loud gurggle sound. Anyway, I did the, ":holding down the eject button for 20 sec" along with prodding with another dvd and out came the stuck DVD! Thank you thank you! I would have had one upset husband!

Surgical Hemostats. For any nurses out there just take your hemostats reach in the pull the disk out. my two year old rammed 4 in my ps3. tried everyone elses answer without success but the hemostats worked like a charm.

I had the same problem. i lent my system to my brother he had put a cd in that had the reflective backing was peeling on. i got a pair of the girlfriends eyebrow tweezers bent the ends of them so as they were straight and gently nipped the edge of the disk, it pulled straight out and havent had any problems so far.
