Question about Computers & Internet

Worked out F_PANEL connectors.

I set up this same mobo after my old one died and this was all I had. The manuals are fine except they have more pins than my mobo. Mine only has 9 pins, 4 at the top and 5 on the bottom. I got it to power on with the POWER SW on the top right hand 2 pins, positive to LHS I think. It doesn't matter if they're around the opposite way as it won't damage the board. The bottom left hand 2 pins are your HDD LED and the next 2 pins are your RESET SW. These pins are positive to RHS. The bottom 5th pin on the far right is not used. I tried all combinations on the 2 top left hand pins for the PWR LED but got no result so just left them off. I tried a P4 3GHz but it would only turn on for about 5 seconds then shut off. Maybe the BIOS is set only to accept a Celeron CPU. A BIOS upgrade may be in order.

Every motherboard has its connections manual, also case has marks and signs at its connectors, if your case has more then your motherboard it can be front panel audio and usb jack go to your motherboard manufacturer web site and search for manual for your model. Also there will be upgrades of your bios and also CPU types your motherboard supports. If you CPU is correctly inserted and when power on it ons and then automatically offs may caused because you dont have CPU fan installed and it cant cool so automatically powers off.

Dell Asus M2N61-AX MB front panel connector Nix ATX Gaming case

I assume you mean the HDD,reset,on switch etc where they plug onto the mobo.

Most mobos are labelled on the board but you will need good eyesight to read. They are labelled HDD, RESET, SPEAKER etc.

If not simply look up mobo manual from vendors site. You will need the DELL serial / part number from the old unit though.

I HAVE AN OLD AMD DURON WITH A MOBO ATTACHED OF COURSE BUT THE PROBLEM BEING IS IT POSTED WHEN I FIRST SET IT UP NOW I WENT TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IT WONT EVEN POST AT ALL ITS ALL POWERING UP BUT NOTHING...

hello sir, try the following.
  1. turn off the pc and remove the side cover, locate the memory module, and reseat it (remove and put it back). power on the pc. Still not working?
  2. off again, remove the memory modules again and clean its gold plated contacts by using an eraser (the pencil eraser) then put it back again. power on. still not working? do 1 and 2 several times. (make sure that the memory modules are good)
  3. If several times has not worked, try to isolate the problem by removing all the connectors except. 20/24 pin power connector, the vga cable, front panel leds and switch. do 1 and 2 again.
  4. still not working? check your motherboard connections and review your work?
  5. is you pc 220 v plugged on 110v?
  6. Reassemble the board again.

Newly built system will not power up!

It seems like you have bad MOBO. I recently ordered all the stuff to build 2 new systems. Built the first one, no power, just like yours. Moved everything to the 2nd MOBO, everything worked. I did a RMA on the DOA MOBO. Got the new one and it fired right up. Sometimes you just get bad stuff.

Where to hookup front panel (PIII-3754LMR - AMPTRON)

Front Panel Connector The front panel header is where the connectors of hard disk drive activity lights, case speaker, reset button, power on/off button, computer power on light, and key lock, are connected to make them function smoothly. In the past days, users always have difficulty connecting the front panel due to a lack of standard location on the motherboard. Today, AOpen integrated all these disorder but essential front panel connectors into one 20-pin connector for easy usage. Connecting the front panel would no longer be the headache of installing motherboard anymore. Below is a view of this user-friendly front panel connector of AOpen motherboard.

Hooking my Neo4 mobo back up.

Hi weeman105, case wire colors do vary from case to case. The most common case wire colors for negative are "white & black". All other colors like blue, green, red orange are most commonly "positive". The four pin connector with only the ends with wires is the internal speaker. Most boards use one set of pins where you hook everything up. The MSI K8N Neo4-F uses two separate motherboard pins, Front Panel Connectors: JFP1 & JFP2 as shown on the top page 2-19. Now that you know what color is positive & which is negative things should work out just fine.
Downloaded manual from MSI link: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=4117&type=manual
If you run into any other troubles, just post & we'll go from there.

Good luck weeman105!
