Always use good quaility two stroke oil designed for use in chainsaws ( not out board motors ) and mix at 40-1, oil quaility has moved on greatly so it is acceptable to use less oil than was once needed.

50:1 - 50 parts Gas to every 1 part oil.

If you have to error one way or the other, it is better to error a little on the side of having more oil. Sears has a Craftsman chain saw 50cc that is/was made by McCulloch and it's fuel ratio is 40:1. The lack of lubrication(oil) in fuel will lead to engine damage, too mush oil in fuel can lead to low performance. Hope this helps.
