THIS USUALLY MEANS THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE INTERNAL AMPLIFIER SO FIRSTLY REMOVE THE RADIO AND CHECK THAT NONE OF THE WIRES ARE TRAPPED AND THEREFORE SHORTING THE OUTPUT. IF NONE OF THE WIRES ARE DAMAGED THEN I'M AFRAID THAT YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE AMP IN THE RADIO

Do you like need the colors codes for the harness like speakers and and all?
SOURCE: Display doesn't illuminate on flipdown faceplate
Has unit gotten very cold lately? If faceplate is removable, remove it and clean the brass terminals with a CLEAN pencil eraser, wiking sure to blow off any rubber "crumbs" when finished.

SOURCE: I have a Kenwood KDC MP532U. The face plate will not display.
it more than likely has bad solder connections inside the radio on some surface mount resistors usually located on the right front of the radio as it faces you.
Testimonial: "Thanks, I will give that a try. Can you tell me how to do it? Do i resolder all the joints or just some in specfic? Thanks, cet6969"
SOURCE: unable to remove faceplate or eject cd on kenwood
remove the to of the unit, then the two in the actual cd player, pull out cd player, there will be two more screws, these hold the faceplate assembly in place, remove them. This will allow you to pull a small plastic hook down to let the face plate slide out. then remove the face plate from it's holder, slide it out. Remove the four screws on the back of the faceplate inside the there is a very small piece of plastic that has a hole at one end and squared at the other. This is the problem causing piece. I suggest super gluing this piece where it attaches to the inside of the faceplate. This should fix the problem.
